How fun to "meet" someone who has been to Guam. It is such a small island in a remote place in the world. But for the USA, it sits in a very military strategic area.

I don't have a favorite author, but my favorite genre is historical fiction. I love reading books that are based on some fact but have the added interest of fiction to embellish the story.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to learning more about you and to participating on the message boards.

Thank you for the kind welcome Janet. I have a special cyber friend in England who lives in Kent. I have not met her, but someday I plan to. We have a lot in common. We met on an online book club years ago and now we Skype often.
I like the idea of a weekly weigh-in and will certainly post my numbers. I look forward to learning more about you.

Hi Karen and another very warm emoticon to our special team here.
Many congrats on being a maintainer, yes we all need motivation to stay on track and thankfully we pray one for another here.
How exciting to know you're living on Guam. I lived in Spain for 14yrs but am not back living in my home town in England...I enjoy being amongst my American sisters here too very much.
As Carol said, we have many threads running, we weigh in every week, track our fitness minutes, have a general chat thread, prayer & praise and some games to keep our minds active! Come join in often....You are Welcome!

Hugs
Janet

Welcome, Karen. We are glad you have found us. Looking forward to getting to know you. We have several threads you might be interested in....chatting, games, weigh-in, etc. Join us when you can.

WOW! Guam. Many eons ago I lived on that beautiful island. Absolutely loved my time there. I was a teacher for 2 years.

You mentioned that you have been doing some reading. What types of books do you like to read? Do you have a favorite author?

Again, welcome to the team.

Carol

My name is Karen. I am 62 years old and over the past two years have lost 40 pounds through diet and (unfortunately) illnesses. I have been maintaining my present weight for over a year now. I still need help with motivation to exercise, but praise God, my food cravings are gone and I find it fairly easy to watch my diet. I still have days that I overdo or eat the "wrong" things, but I manage to get right back on track. My present health is good, although there are days that my body wants to rebel against that assessment.
Right now I am living on the beautiful island of Guam in the South Pacific. My husband is a teacher with the United States Dept of Defense. We have been here on Guam since September and I am enjoying the beautiful beaches and lovely year round warm weather. When we lived back in the USA (Georgia) I worked as a school secretary. I am now "retired." (self imposed) but I have been using the time to do a lot of reading, needle work -- I love to knit and crochet-- and enjoy the beaches.
Feel free to ask me whatever you'd like, as I will be happy to answer any of your questions.
