And you want to go there....in the freezing cold? NO SIR!!! lol

Made a nice cauliflower, leek & onion cheese today...very tasty! You can use any veggies you prefer. It was just for me so I was able to track the calories alright.

She sent me articles from medical journals. She has access to these articles through her college department. I havn't read then yet but will soon and report here.

Janet I was thinking about the old fashion root cellars that the old timers had in their back yards. they would dig down below the freezing level and make a small room. Used to store produce and things.

JanetR...what is the root cellar when it's a home??
Hope you share the ideas that Leah sent you...even if they're for 'older people'...lol

Barbara...yes I can imagine that friend isn't keen on you panting your way through the chatting!!

My breakfast is usually an egg and 1/3 tin of baked beans, then a banana. I'm a bit stumped for that meal...
JanetR...I've never heard a straight answer to this...how do you get turkey bacon from a turkey?

This one is for exercise. If I have a phone call to make to a freind, or I receive one, I head down to the basement and talk and treadmill at the same time. WOW..40 minutes of talking and exercising..can't beat it! I love it! Ask the person if it's ok though, as if you have it at a high level, you might be hard to understand. I only have 1 friend who does not like to talk to me when I'm on the treadmil, cuz she says I'm panting too much!! LOL!! So, I call her later!

I like cinnamon too! Janet since you don't have a basement and a "basement" is my home, mayve we need to build an old-fashioned root cellar! emoticon
As for my breakfast they vary. Sometimes scrambled eggs with lots of veggies and turkey bacon, sometimes peanut butter on toast with a little honey and sometimes a healthy cereal with 2% milk. I'm been adding ground flex to ny breakfast meals where I can. Mix it in and can't tell it.

Carol I think fruit and a light breakfast is fine and helps to balance out all your other eating times.

Barbara...I wish I had that much self control...maybe a need a place with a basement? lol You're doing very well.

Not much, JanetE. Granola a few times, fruit other times and sometimes waiting for lunch and dinner.....too much of the "meet and eat" here....gotta be careful. I know, skipping breakfast is not the way to go, but have been doing that sometimes. The fruit is quite nice. Little bananas, melons, papayas, etc.

I rarely eat cereal but Joseph often has jumbo oats. He adds soya milk and all sorts of nuts, seeds, raisins and then microwaves it for a few minutes.

Barbara, those quotes would help me too!

JanetR, I wasn't into soy at all but here in the UK the range of meat free is good. I'm getting quite adventurous.
I like to make stir fries, mainly cooked in their own steam and vapour, then add some soy sauce and a small amount of Ragu type sauce. Today I added some lentils.

This ideas are very nice.

I've been experimenting with some soya products for mains. I found a nice Mexican chilli mix that I use to make a shepherds pie. And a Lincolnshire sausage mix and some batter for Toad in the Hole. Both are simple and tasty! I add steamed fresh veggies too.

The oatmeal does sound good!

Just read a tip to be careful when you are dieting not to cut of too much dairy. You might loose weight but you will also loose muscle.

That is right about the walnuts and cholesterol, Joseph's doctor recommended them every day.
That breakfast sounded very nutritious...I eat one or two eggs every morning. I like my early morning protein to come from them.

As I don't eat meat these days I get a lot of my protein from beans, there is such a variety and they are so versatile.

I think wheat has got a bad press because it has a huge portion of gluten in it now compared to decades ago and is thought to be causing people to gain weight. I know what it does for me so steer clear of it as much as possible. Coconut oil seems to be in vogue at the moment...that could change of course! lol

JanetR...what else are you eating besides the smoothies?

It was a tie for me between A and C. I too found some of the questions hard to answer. I saw this idea in the current First Magazine Issue. I'm bad about not eating a rounded meal. I'm going to make more of an effort in that area. Interesting fact they don't use much or any wheat and call for coconut oil which I thought was a no-no.

Carol, tell us more about your upcoming trip to Singapore!

I tried the quiz, but don't know quite what to think because the questions didn't seem to fit me. It said to select the closest fit, so I tried. But I think the best thing for me is just to get back to tracking, exercise, and try to keep my carbs, fiber and calcium within the recommended amounts.

You'd be surprised how those f+v carbs mount up Carol. I eat some cheese, eggs every day, some fish but the rest are carbs for me...I had 194% today. That is pretty normal for me.

I ended up that way also, JanetE. However, the part that got me was the the amount of carbs that I would need. That seems to be what I would try to cut out. Since I'm on my way to Singapore there will be tons of carbs. Will see how this all works. I do eat some protein, fish and chicken mostly and some eggs and cheese. I eat lots of veggies tho. Also fruit....maybe that's where my carbs should come from.

I'll try it out and see what happens.

Yes Carol I did it too...and Joseph!! Well I answered them alright but the answers for your type seemed to based on the majority for one letter, eg A, B, C. I had 2 Bs so that made me a B. In fairness it was the best match for me...I'm not a protein person which is how I've easily stopped eating meat & poultry
Did that help you?.

Have you taken the quiz, JanetE? Not sure I agree with it. Some of the questions were difficult to answer. None of the answer choices really fit me, so I just chose one to see what would happen. Would be interested to hear what others think.

I love the vingeratte salad dressings. I need to use them more. I had also forgotten about just put the dressing on the fork tips.

I've been reading about eating by your metabolic type by Dr. Oz's. It gets a a little confusing but basically you need to eat some of each protein, carb and fat. I'm still researching it still

Good for you Carol...low in calories of course. I first had it in the States as a marinade on some meat and loved that tang!

What else can we substitute for a high cal food? These tips are useful...

Thanks, Barbara. I do order the dressing on the side, but need to remember to just dip the tines of my fork in, to the salad itself.

I'm sure most of you have heard this and/or hopefully follow it.....for salad dressing, just get a small bowl for the dressing and dip the tines of your fork in ONLY.....and same at restaurants; always order it on the side!! Many dressings are full of fat and loaded with calories!

Barbara .....that's what my friends call me! Never cared for the name Barb.

Make it a blessed and healthy day! IT IS YOUR CHOICE!
