Periodically I want to look cute, but mostly, I want to be thin and strong so I can do things easily with the grandkids.

My grandson who will be eight on Thursday is so sweet. He is always trying to help me with the kayak.

About health, true! I want to feel good about the way I look, as well. Being thinner would do that for me.

I do think the answer for me is to stay wheat and processed sugar free. Less cravings to deal with.

Just hang in there. You may be going through a plateau. It sounds like you are doing the right things and healthy blood pressure is a huge plus. After all this is about our health, not just our appearance or a number on the scale.

I am still struggling. trying a different approach to diet. Still going with the low sodium of the DASH, however. So far, the weight has been up and down. I don't like the way I look or feel.

My blood pressure is good, however. That is a plus!

Linda,

I like to be clean and tidy too, but I am not much of a fashionista nor worry too much about looking fat, but what I truly hate is feeling like I am weighted down and have no energy. Yet, I self sabotage constantly. Sometimes I think I need to see a psychiatrist. The fat keeps me invisible. Why on earth do I need to be invisible? Anyway, I am determined to get back to what I weighed in October and then go on down from there because I want to have the energy to play with my grandchildren and I want to be around to play with my great grandchildren.

The DASH Diet means dietary approaches to stop hypertension, but it is a good diet for everyone. You eat lots of fruit and vegetables. it is low sodium. You also eat whole grains, light on the meats and low fat dairy and eggs. Balanced in moderation. There are many versions of it, but the original was by Thomas Moore, MD. You get to eat a bit of sweets too.

The weight is very upsetting to me. I do my best to dress well, fix my hair and makeup, but the weight does not sit comfortably on my body.

Welcome to the team.

I have a CFS diagnosis which I got after a tick bite. I can work about half a day now with frequent rest breaks, which is okay because I am retired. I wonder how much energy I would have if I wasn't packing all the weight around too.

I find the pool exercises are easier. Getting overheated seems to make the symptoms worse. I can hike better on 50 degree days than on 75 degree days.

So tell us more about the DASH diet. I am really struggling with food and attitude.

Five motorcycles (Harley types) just drove by my house which is kind of weird because we are on a side street behind a park. They were slow and respectful and probably out cruising on a rally today. Sorry for getting sidetracked here.

Pacing was my life saver.

Hi, I am new to the team which I discovered through Becca. I am fatigued daily due to a hormonal imbalance. I have been diagnosed with cfs in the past (the 80's), as well.

I am overweight and unhappy about it. Intense exercise takes a long time to get over. I have been to physical therapy lately and the last session did me in on Thursday. I am just now getting over it. I hope I get out to a pool and continue on. I love the comfort of my comfortable home.

Anyway, I am new to the group but have been on Spark for 10 years. I had an adrenal gland removed last year and gained 30 pounds which I cannot lose. I tried vegan for a while and that made it worse (the weight) so I am eating the DASH diet plan now, low sodium with lots of fruit and veggies. My A1C is better on that and I do not want to get back on diabetic meds.

Live retired with a husband who still is working and two kitties.
