Right now I am pretty much just recording what I eat and trying to remember what to eat. I find when I get a chance to get some thing done outside with the farm like fences etc I lose track of time don't eat and then when I do I gorge. So stopping that habit will help I think and getting portions size under control. I have also got into a veggie groups that delivers a large box of fresh produce every two weeks for a very good price so I will be able to get back to eating more veggies and cut more carbs. In the summer we go to the lake so I will get more swimming in and when a bit more wight comes off I would like to get back to riding and hiking.

As far as the horse yes she is getting up there. She is quite the character, she is a bit under weight, not much for teeth so a lot of soaked grain and beet pulp. I try to get her to to eat the recommended amount for her size of the senior feed but she is like a little old lady who pecks at her food. She does put on more when she is completely separated but you can tell she gets depressed and likes being with the other two. She also likes to hang out with my husband when he has a fire going in the yard and she will stand by the fire. She will almost stand in the fire if you let her. She has been doing that for a long time. I have had her for 28 years. She has pretty much been retired for the last 15 give or take a year. Lots of fun.

Hey...good to meet you. I am sure your children will enjoy the horses this summer. I think older horses are great for younger children. Wow...you have a 36 yr old horse. That is amazing.

I bet your children keep you busy and moving. I remember those days. I am older now and put on some weight. I am working to get it off so I can ride without pain anymore. It is a challege trying to ride to lose weight or excerise...when you start hurting the next day you can't move. But I keep telling myself. No pain No gain....but I know I am not young anymore either.

what are you doing to help lose weight?

Hello I am new to the team. I am a mom of three little kids and I have three older horses, a 36 year old Morgan Quarter cross, a 21 year old Anglo Arab Quarter cross and a 16 year old I am guessing Quarter Horse cross with some draft. I have had very little time for riding the last few years due to small kids and now with the extra weight I feel bad climbing on the old girls until I get to a better size. I am hoping to get out more with them this summer, my youngest is now 4 and she loves the horses. I figure I can start off walking them around while she sits up top and learns how to ride. Hopefully the two of us will be out and about in no time.
