emoticon Just as you're taking your writing small steps at a time, so take your weight loss one healthy meal, one exercise, one positive day at a time and always believe in yourself you can do this, one pound at a time. Small, repeated successes reinforce motivation and determination. -- Lou

Hi, Kennwanne - welcome to the group! Are you also new to SP? And for what it's worth, I'm in the middle of NaNoWriMo and losing momentum my own self, so I know what you mean about commitment and motivation and running out of steam...

Looking back over my 53 years, there are two things I've done consistently, whatever my circumstances....write, and diet. Although I love doing the first one, and have varying attitudes to the latter, I have noticed a similar pattern in my approach. I have bursts of committment and energy when I will write every day, and stick to my diet (the two aren't always in tandem I hasten to add). Then I just kind of trail off.

A few weeks ago I had a health scare that stopped me in my tracks - the working 80+ hours track. Having now reduced the hours I do for my day job, I want to use the time to build on my writing and get healthy.

I have set myself a goal of writing for AT LEAST 5 mins a day. I have done this religiously for over 3 weeks now and have written about 60 pages (nearly a whole film script). It is amazing what you can achieve with small steps isn't it. It was seeing the results from this small goal that got me to thinking/realising that a similar approach to weight loss might just be the answer.

Previously I've started diets all fired up, with impossible time related goals that I would never stick to (be it exercise 1 hour or day, lose 2lb a week or write 10 pages a day etc). This time I'm starting cautiously gradually adding additional (and small) goals when I have really bedded in a new habit.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

PS: Not sure why my ticker says I've lost a kg...I haven't...I've lost a pound!
