Everyday is a new day to accomplish the goals set b/c you're introduced to a new, clean slate at the dawn of a new day. So don't kick yourself about what you could've or should've done on yesterday but be thankful for another day that you've been able to see to re-group and get yourself going in the direction that you have set forth: a healthier life style resulting in weight loss and a more positive attitude.

Believe it or not, doctors are not really educated on nutrition or fitness! No offence, but since you're still rather heavy they may not feel the weight loss has made any difference, however, the exercise definitely has! Congratulations! Keep it up! emoticon

the last fewdays my BP's have been averaging 156/86 coming down from 180/103! emoticon

I cannot seem to get the Dr's that I am eating so healthy. the group seems to have a bias toward people with weight issues. After several moths ofwhenever I raise the question about nutrion, via
ins etc they tend to pooh-ppoh me.

Ifinally had to have a conference with the Directors & one keeps on insisting that CQ10,naicin,potassium etc has any bearing. But that's ok.

Hi there
For me I am excited to bewith people who are pumped up for real change.

I've have a issue with ones who believe that shame brings change when it doesn't. So tend to avoid procedures, people or things who seem to act & think that if the beat up, cricize or shame one they will do what is needed.

We know 93% of communication is non-verbal and people are more incline to participate or have enthusiasm if you are too.

Now I am not speaking of ever bubbly "rah rah rah you can do it every second of the day" because I do not know very many people who could substain that.

Support comes many ways in many faces. Ifind peope here to e community supportive, determined, proactive community armed with knowledge!

Have your children always been heavy? It might be difficult for them to gain any motivation if there's nothing for them to look back to. I can look back to when I used to wear a bikini in high school or that my wedding dress was a size 8, whereas when I started SparkPeople I was wearing an 18/20. As you get thinner and gain more energy they should pick up on it. But don't nag! That will backfire - it doesn't matter whether your kids are 8 or 28! Buy healthy food, make healthy meals, be excited when you reach a new short-term goal, and just love them as they are. Also, ask for their help. If you're going to allow yourself one small scoop of ice cream on the weekends ask them to keep you accountable, and thank them when they do! They will most likely start asking you about what you're doing before too long! Good luck!

NEVAALVETA!!! Don't expect them to accept it right away. When they start seeing the enjoyment they will want to join you. My daughter even joins us once in a while!

Hi NevaAlveta
I joined SP at the end of May because I had the same problem, to date I have lost 10lb despite putting about 4lb on whilst on holiday in June. Now my son is also changing his diet and has lost weight.
I think SP is a emoticon site. emoticon
If you need any help I am ready to be there for you.

Hi;
I have just joined SparkPeople and am very excited to be a part of it. I have searched for sometime for a place to be supported in my journey to loose weight. As with most people I have tried, tried and tried to loose weight. I have not been successful. That is why I am here. I have no support at home, because every one in my home has the same problem I have, lack of motivation and the lack of the ability to stick to it. My motivation is for myself and my children. Even though they are grown, they still need someone to motivate them. someone to show them that wieght lose is possible BUT it does require a lifestyle change.
