emoticon It's good to hear from you again!!

I love my Dexcom CGM. It lets me know when I am out gardening that it's time for a break.
My husband says he still notices that I always putter a bit longer before I head for a snack.

My Diabetic Team in San Antonio ha been so supportive. The RNE has tried to walk me through setting temporary basal rates for scheduled exercise but I really have not gotten the hang of it yet.

My goal is to continue to lower my A1c below 7. I've been high for more than 3 decades so it's slow going.

I have found that SparkPeople works for me as an entirely new way of living. Again I'm so glad to hear from you.
You have my deep sympathy on the loss of your friend.

Hooray! We can be a team : )

Back in February, I lost a FB friend. Her death was even more of a shock since I learned she was a type 1 diabetic, and had entered the hospital to have her leg amputated. She suffered several strokes, and then a fatal heart attack. I didn't even know she was diabetic and since she was younger than me and appeared to be healthier (and slimmer!), I took her death extremely hard. I had a personal pity party for a few days and then decided not to let her death pass without taking it as a cue to fine tune my own numbers.

I immediately made appointments with my endo and all other docs. Caught up on all labs, tests, etc. I took a treadmill stress test to calm my fears about a few chest pain twinges I'd been having. I FINALLY installed and began using my Diasend software, which enables me to wirelessly upload my pump info to my CDE. Since February, I've had weekly phone appointments with my wonderfully supportive CDE, and we're adjusting every aspect of my pump to get my numbers as tight and predictable as possible.

A couple months ago I began wearing a Dexcom G4 Platinum CGMS and was delighted to learn that Kaiser has relaxed their requirements, so it's covered at 100%. It's made a huge difference in my day to day management and I'm getting better at responding to my lows instead of ignoring them until I'm ravenous and out of control at the fridge. Hopefully, that'll result in getting me back on track with weight loss.

My current challenge is needing to lose more weight while I'm dealing with torn up cartilage in both knees. Trying to avoid surgery (had my entire cervical spine rebuilt two years ago!) My new stationary bike just arrived and is getting unpacked today. The extra challenging aspect will be managing my blood sugars while adding in daily exercise.

So, long post, but hey, I'm here too!

I hear you. Send me a message anytime you need and/or want to! I am just back from traveling and am getting set to track again. I know I need support, too, so let's do this together!

I am back again. I am heavier . I am so out of shape. Recently I have been on steroids so my bs numbers are horrible. I want to make a commitment this time to make the changes I need. It's so easy to say the words not so good at carrying it out. emoticon

I will do this!
