I have a vial of Symlin in the refrigerator and another that I need to throw out. :) As much as I need to lose weight, I had trouble adjusting to shots again. I've been on the pump for over a year and Type 1/Diabetic for almost 3 --I just couldn't go back to shots. I will have to look into Medifast.

Losing weight as a type 1 is just plain hard; don't I know it!

But it's also possible. In February I decided to take what I considered the drastic approach of starting Medifast because I just couldn't seem to budge a pound. I'm thrilled that I've lost 26 pounds so far! But there are several reasons for my success: small, frequent meals, low carb, exercise, overall lower calorie count, etc.

Before trying Symlin, if I were you, I'd want to find and correct my reason for emotional eating. I mean, another drug (and more injections!) won't help that. And you've already proven you know how to manage great blood sugar.

I really enjoyed reading Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth. I'm not religious so at first I was turned off by the title but it's not a "preachy" book. It really helped me to see my relationship with food differently. I highly recommend it and hey, it's much less painless and more inexpensive than Symlin!

Good luck and keep posting!

Hi there! I am a 35 year old type 1 diabetic who was diagnosed at age 5. I have 3 children and my youngest also has type 1-was diagnosed at 3 months of age. I really want to lose weight. It is so hard with emotional factors regarding food though! I do exercise often and have great blood sugars, I just eat too much. My doctor suggested trying Symlin. Are any of you using that? I found that it did make me full quickly but that my blood sugars would go really high a few hours after eating...
