Just sending a quick 'hey', it's late here...but I'll be sure to comeback and formally introduce myself. Have a good one!

Welcome! Nice to have another 40ish/50ish woman here. I'm 44, minimed pump, been T1 for 18 years. Yep, dropping weight has definitely gotten more difficult, but it can be done. I totally relate to the frustration of consuming calories in the form of glucose tabs and cliff shot blocks. I do my best to keep that and the rest of it in perspective, and start fresh when needed :)

Hi Darlene,
Boy, can I relate about age-related issues!
I'm 51, type 1, Animas Ping and Animas pumper for about eight years.

My numbers have always been nearly effortless to maintain...until my late 40s or so.

Weight has become almost impossible to budge and everything seems more erratic. Since January 1 I've returned to what I know what works for me: an uber low-carb lifestyle (ala Bernstein's Diabetes Solution) and I'm working on increasing my activity.

No complications and I feel great but I'm testing even more frequently that I ever have (up to 15 times a day) to keep tight control.

Hello everyone!

My name is Darlene. I am 45 years old, have had Type I Diabetes for just shy of 31 years. I have been an Animas Insulin pumper for cumulatively 9 years.

I have a love/hate relationship with my pump. I love the flexibility it allows, and that I don't have as many lows anymore, but I hate the expense and wearing it.

Being a "seasoned" Type I and a "marinating" female, I find I'm experiencing alot of changes in my body related to age (i.e., weight gain and menopause) that are making managing diabetes more difficult.

I look forward to sharing experiences with all of you.
