Welcome Denise! Congrats on your weight loss!! I joined this group in support of my bf with type 1. I learned so much here that I was able to help him lose 30 pounds! It's great that you have a nutritionist to help you out with adjusting your insulin. This is a great team and a very helpful website that approaches healthy living holistically. So it's not all about the calories and pounds, but creating a happier life a day at a time. emoticon

Hi Denise!
Its a never-ending balancing act, isn't it? Too high, too low, too much, too little...
Its scary sometimes to eat *more*, but its almost sillier to eat too little than to eat too much. Trust your dietitian (or find one that you CAN trust), they often really do know what they're talking about!
Welcome to SP, I think this is the best website ever : ) You're sure to find useful hints and tidbits as you browse along, and if you ever have questions the message boards are a GREAT place to get advice!
Good luck with your goals!

Hello, I'm Denise.
I joined Spark People this
past Thursday. I have had type one
diabetes since June of 1966.
I was born March 12, 1965.
I'm here as a part of this team
for the support. It is really
easy to fall into depression.
I joined Spark People with my
weight loss already in progress.
I started at 373 and am now at
282. I want to see that number below
200. I have thyroid disease to
go along with my diabetes.
And to make things tougher I have
synthroid resistance.

My biggest problem is that for my height
the nutritionist at the hospital wants
me to have 2000 calories a day. I am
so fearful of gaining back that weight
that I find myself unable to go above
1500 calories. I have low blood glucose
readings nearly every single day.
My diabetic educator is helping me adjust
down my insulin as I lose the weight.

I am glad to be a new member of the group!

{{{Hugs}}}

Denise
