Congrats to you Carey for getting accepted into an advanced practice nursing program! When do you start the program? Are you going to work as an RN while going school?

I have been offered a position in the ICU and will get my start date when I pass NCLEX. I am going to wait a year or 2 to get my MSN.

Yeah those code browns can be pretty nasty! I will keep you in my prayers too.

Hi SuperDuper! NCLEX is the licensing examination that all nurses have to take after graduating. Some people refer to as the "boards". Once I pass the exam I will officially be a RN.

Hey Gadgit, welcome back!
Congrats on finishing nursing school, that's an accomplishment even if you did let some things slide a little in the mean time, lol.
Sounds like you've got a good plan to get it back together and make it stick.
What's the NCLEX?

Hi GADGITGURL, congrats on graduating nursing school. That's awesome. I've been on SP since march, so I'm not sure I've met you before. I've been diabetic for about 18 years and I wear a pump and a CGMS. I think once you get done studying for your test and get into the groove of being a RN, the weight will begin to go down. You've got alot on your plate right now, but you'll get there. Keep up the good work and good luck on your test. Nice to meet you. emoticon emoticon Denise

How is everyone? I am finally done with nursing school! I graduated almost 2 weeks ago and am now getting settled back into normal life while studying for the NCLEX.

This last year of school has been so crazy that I let my good eating and exercise habits go to the wayside. My blood glucose has been a bit out of control and my last A1c was 7.4 (before school I was at my best at 5.2).

Not surprisingly, I gained a ton of weight back but so far I have lost 4 lbs of it. My goal is to lose what I gained plus another 20lbs.

Even though I really want to lose weight, more so I really want my good habits to stick with me even through stressful times. When I pass the NCLEX I will start working as an RN in a very large and busy ICU. Many people say that the first year as an RN is even harder than school. So you can see why I really need good eating and exercise habits to be well ingrained in me.

Looking forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new ones!

GG
