Welcome. Hope you find what you are looking for here. While I am not Vegan-most recipes
can be switched to vegetarian with a few simple changes. I don't know if you have stores like
"Aldis"but they generally have good deals on produce. The library usually offers a lot in the way
of books on the subject.Good Luck!

Hi,

Nice to have you join us. As a mother of 7 kids and 2 grandkids, you're setting a great example for your family! I know what you mean about having a hard time with having enough money for food. That's something that my family and I really struggle with too, so I know what you're going through. And my husband and kids aren't vegan, but I'm certainly trying to tempt them with some delicious food and get them to eat mainly dairy and meat free.

I pray that things go well with your doctor, please let me know how your appointment goes.

Kim

Hi, all... I found this site through my cell phone, of all things. Looks like a great opportunity to keep on track. except it looks like it's going to be more work than it's worth if I can't figure a few things out.

Such as: I switched cold-turkey to a mostly-raw vegan diet two years ago. Is there a way to set up the sparkpeople menu suggestions to reflect the vegan diet so I don't have to go and change every single thing all the time? I am very new to this site, and I am willing to learn. It just looks a bit overwhelming right off the bat.

About me... Totally in love with Jesus :) Married, 7 kids, 2 grandkids. I am vegan (dietary). I started eating this way because I was in so much pain and dealing with so many horrible health issues. After much prayer, I believe the Lord led me directly to cutting out animal products. Within 2 weeks most of my pain was gone. To me it's not so much about kindness to animals, it's about freedom from pain.

I am the only one in my family eating this way. we all SHOULD be, but I can't really convince anyone to join me. It gets expensive this way... Most of them like most of the vegan meals I fix, but they want their steaks, too. ~sigh~

I lost a good deal of weight when I first switch, then haven't lost an pound since. Honestly I know it is because when $$ is tight, I still eat vegan, but it is the cheap carb stuff. Pasta. Beans and rice. I would love to figure out how to do it better and be able to have fresh produce on hand all the time. When I do have it, I keep a "salad box" in the fridge. Helps alot when I don't feel like having to cut stuff up.

I am in my 40s. I am noticing signs of thyroid issues and have an appt next week to have it tested. It may explain the weight loss issues...

Sorry I'm rambling. I want community support, if that makes sense. I have been going it alone for two years and am feeling the need for fellowship in this area. Nice to meet you all...

I'm Tracy, Taking it day by day, one step at a time!
