Welcome Debbie!

I know what you mean -I read the Jungle as a teenager, and that made me decide to give up meat.

Just found this team today. I had a real eye opener about the cruelty
to farm animals and the slaughterhouses.
Ive heard the stories but you have no idea until you see it first hand.

I'm just starting out becoming vegetarian, but I am so ready for the transition. My hubby though isnt in the same mindset. He wouldnt give up meat ever.

Look forward to meeting everyone and get started.

Yes, I have also had people tell me they didn't think vegetarians could be fat! Wrong - I think cheese is part of the problem, but I am also a big fan of peanut butter!

Hi!

I am brand new to Spark. As "the world's unhealthiest vegetarian", I knew I couldn't live on the macaroni & cheese, ice cream and diet coke diet any more, as much as I wanted to :-) It got me through a couple of big blizzards lately, but to what avail?

It's hard for people to believe that someone can be a vegetarian and overweight. Has anyone else experienced this? In my case, I should be called a "non meat-eater" instead of vegetarian, since I've ignored vegetables for a lot of my life. I actually know quite a few overweight vegetarians. There's plenty of ways to gain weight other than by eating meat, right?

But I have decided that for me, it is time to break up with cheese, as I heard an actress say recently. That is definitely one of my worst trigger foods. Nia Vardolos, the actress from "Big Fat Greek Wedding", credited her significant weight loss with giving it up, so I think that might work for me as well.

Anyway, so happy to have found this website and this group! Wow - other people who are Christians and vegetarian and overweight! Just like me! :-)
