Hi Sonja, You have come to the right place! There is so information on this site, don't let it intimidate you. You could start by tracking what you eat and get comfortable with that. Meanwhile read some motivational blogs. The main thing is to log in every day and you will learn. Join some of the teams that interest you too. I took the liberty to add you as a friend and will check in with you to help you stay accountable and would hope you could do the same for me. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Welcome Sonja, you will find a lot of good information on this site, also meet a lot of good friends who have the same problems, I also have been overweight all me life and have gained and lost and gained again, a struggle every day, but never give up, and take one day at a time, I have found a lot of information on here that helps. This is coming from one without much support on the home front either, I need to get motivated too. Good luck on your journey, You can do it.

Hey there...my name is Sonja, I am new to all of this but I was told by my doctor to join as he said I could find a lot of support on here. I am beginning a weight loss journey because I was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The doctor said that if I lose weight, the diabetes will go away. I need to lose at least 100 pounds, but am really overwhelmed by where to start, what to eat, what to cook at home, and what kind of exercise I can do with arthritis in my knees. I am 42 years old and have been overweight since high school. I do not have a lot of support as most of my friends do not have weight issues. I am seeing a dietitian, but again, that gets very overwhelming too. I think I just need people to support me, keep me accountable, and check in on me from time to time. I can do the same for you!! :)
