MARATHONME2978, you're hilarious! I think I'm "part penguin" too! I run about the same pace as you and have run 10K (6miles) a few times. I'm thinking about doing a half marathon in the spring, even if I have to walk a lot of it. I'd like to be one of your Virtual Running Buddies!

SBILZ40 - what does "building a base" mean?! Working on core strength? Running more regularly?

If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one!

I too am looking for a buddy to share this journey with. For motivation and support. For the last three months I have been thinking about my first marathon. During this three months I have been building a base. I have run off and on for the last few years but nothing more then three miles. I'm not fast and do take walk breaks and could really careless if I win or loose. I just want to finish. My long run is now at 6 miles and I run 4 days a week. Marathon date is I. 37 weeks... I can and will do this.

You can do this!

I agree a half with the run/walk method is very doable. I run with Nike plus and have running buddies from all over. I'm currently training for a 9 mile run. I'll send you a PM.

Each of is an athlete, some are just in training.

Hope you find someone! I generically post on here or facebook. Also though my bff is a runner too, we don't live close anymore but talk through facebook.

Interesting that Orlando has a club there. I may have a job there soon, am not sure yet.

I don't think your half marathon goal is out of reach if you plan on walking 10 of the miles, just make sure to gradually build up your training as such.

Hi All! I'm looking for a buddy to check in with a few times a week and share running tips and tricks, playlist ideas, talk about ups and downs of running to lose weight, and anything else that may stand in our way.

A little about me.....I am 38 with five kids, four boys still at home, I have about 60 pounds to lose, I am running about three days a week and go about three miles but it's a walk/run and takes me about 50 minutes ( YES! I know I'm part penguin!) I signed up for a half marathon coming up on December 1st and my goal is to finish in under 4 hours. I hope to be about to run the full three miles by this race and just walk run the other 10. (YES! I know its a long race for a beginner, I never take the easy way in the things I do)

BTW If you are in the Orlando area let me know, It's always nice to meet new people. There is a running club that meets a few times a week here but I have yet to make myself go....

Send me some mail if you are interested....
