Hey all-

I'm Michi & live in Hollywood. I'm 35, been in L.A. about a decade, originally from Germany.

My weight has always been up and down- stress, quitting smoking several times, and this time a skate accident. My blood pressure is pretty low too, so I hope to become fitter again without fracturing anything and lose maybe 20-30 lbs.

hi all!

I'm Lauren, and I live in Hollywood! Just celebrated my third year here in Cali, and I turn 30 in April..

My goal is to return to my high school weight (175lb) or smaller. I was very active back then, toned and trim, even as a size 14, but that comes with being a student athlete. Through laziness and battling depression over the years, I've let myself go. And now living in such an image-conscious city doesn't feel very good. Shopping for my size and looking good is an absolute nightmare! And let's not talk about booking acting gigs! At my heaviest, I was 270 this past September.

I was recently in a terrible accident (wheelchair bound for several months), and thankfully through physical therapy, I'm back to walking and moving with no problems. I even lost twelve pounds! Now to just keep the weight loss streak going! I've been stuck at 254 for a few weeks now.

It's a pleasure to meet you all!

Hello, my name is Jana; I am in my 30's and as far as weight I am the heaviest I have ever been. To most people who see me they would say I am not fat or big but from where I used to be to where I am now, to me I am obese...lol. I am currently a size 9, and I do not want to be like a 5 or a 3, I just want to be a comfortable 9. I want to slide in my clothes instead of tugging and stretching to fit into them. Not to mention all the older ladies keep reminding me that after thirty everything wont stay up like that... I am proving them wrong...lol
I have one vice... I love, love, love food...lol. Food and I have a special relationship, I am here to get my food intake, health and fitness in order and in line for a better me.

Hello everyone. Just joined sparkpeople, was reading a few threads while I googled smoothie diets and figured I'd join. My name is April. I'm 26years old, and trying to get back into shape. It's been a couple years of just plain laziness, poor lifestyle choices and bad eating. I guess I hit my rock bottom yesterday when I HAD to go buy some new clothes(I've been living in yoga pants for a lot longer than I realized) and I was so broken when I had to buy a much larger size than I have ever had to me my life. I've known I've been gaining but kinda just ignored it. Anyways the shopping experience brought me too tears. I've been talking about getting healthy and back in shape for a while, but yesterday was my eye opener. Sorry for rambling. I'm here now and am going to try and utilize the site to help my journey back to being fit and healthy.


Oh ps. How do I get past the feeling of already feeling defeated before I even start?

Hi. I'm Rachel. New to Spark...which I found while searching for a meal tracking program.
I am seeking to resolve the "great week/ 'bad' weekend" dilemma that keeps me at a plateau...and I need to lose 40 pounds!! (It's like mastering 'maintenance' before it's time!! ) I will say that I have an exercise regimen of Bootcamp Cardio with strength 3x/ week and Aqua aerobics 2x/week, and keep to it faithfully. So much for that!
In the meantime, if anyone out there wants to join me to crash through the weekend fandango, come along with me! I am WIDELY OPEN to any suggestions! Thanks and see you....

Hi,

I'm the heaviest I've ever been, and I am also having painful medical issues, Can't even walk --but I'm back to Spark after two years. It's the best social web site designed to help us get better! So, I am encouraging you to keep going. I'm doing the real work of logging everything. My daughter is my motivation- she is now eating her problems away, So, it's my job as a parent that is my true motivation. I want to live to see her walk down the aisle, and have my grandkids. It takes awhile to get your life focus off food, but it's getting easier. Please let me know how I can support you with your weight loss.

Hi I am new to this team- I am 52 trying for the last time to get healthy and to a lower BMI, I have lost 30 pounds on my 80-100 lb journey. I pretty much have my workouts down, I workout in the gym 5-6 days a week and now focusing on eating clean. I live on the west side of LA near LAX and go to 24hour fitness but also have a gym membership at the old Bally's which I believe is LA Fitness. I want to tone up in all areryas of my body especially the stomach and legs. I look forward to meeting others along the way to our goal. Workout buddy would be nice too. All the Best to everyone here reaching for their goals. We can do it as long as you stick to it.

Hi,
I'm new to the team. I recently (re-) joined SP after being gone for about five years, and I'm doing really well here once again. I was born and raised and lived my whole life in L.A. and although now I live about an hour's drive south, I still identify with the city, and I still come to there to do things. I have some short term goals for my immediate betterment of my health and some long term goals to get where I would like to be. I look forward to being a part of this big wonderful group!

hi guys!

I'm actually rejoining this conversation after being absent for about a year. Sparkpeople and Chalean Extreme (beach body program) helped me lose over 40lbs in 2011 and since then I've kept the weight off! I just recently started a blog where I've been posting the recipes I use to stay at my goal weight. They are all boyfriend approved and very healthy. I like to use all natural ingredients and stay away from 99% of processed foods. Lastly, they are all simple and pretty quick as I don't have tons of time and money to spend!

I just wanted to share my blog with you guys in the hopes that you might find some unique and tasty recipes you haven't tried yet! thanks and good luck on your journeys everyone!

I live in Beverly Hills Adjacent (dumbest name for a neighborhood ever ;-) and am always interested in new friends and buddies. Hi! I'm back on SparkPeople and serious about getting healthy this time around. I am 31 years old and before each birthday came around from 20-30 years old, I vowed I was going to lose weight. Many times I've told myself, "that's it! I'm done being unhealthy & eating junk! As of tomorrow I'm going to exercise at least 6 days a week!" Yeah…that never ends up happening…going from no exercise to every day doesn't work and I'm just kidding myself because I end up sabotaging or finding excuses to not exercise.

Until June, according to doc orders, I can walk, do light aerobics…nothing that will make me short of breath because I'm on blood thinners to dissolve a blood clot in lungs, but I'm so sick & tired of my obesity!!!

I'll take all the motivation I can get and dish out in kind :)!

I signed up for PlanetFitness. They are GREAT and CHEAP. $10 a month. I couldn't afford the other gyms and to be honest now Im glad I couldnt because the workers and the patrons are the nicest I have ever encountered. You should check it out for yourself.

Hi! It looks like I signed on to the site back in 2007 but to be honest I dont remember doing it, lol. Here I am now ready to make some big changes in my life. For the first time in my life I am not happy with the way I look or feel. I am bigger than I have ever been (230). I am too young to feel this old. I am looking forward to my new journey. Hello.

I am also a returning member of SparkPeople. All I want to say is that I lost my way, but found my way back. I have always loved this website. It is the greatest place to go when you need guidance, positive reinforcement, and a way to be responsible for the foods I consume and the amount of exercise I do each day! Hello!

I'm back after having been gone way too long! I think it's been about a year since I've really been on here and I've decided to get back to it. I live in Van Nuys and I'm hoping to find people to keep me motivated and on track. In December I got to my all time highest weight! With some motivation from family and a bet, I was able to lose about 15 lbs in 2.5 months! I lost about 3 more lbs and have since gained it back to my end of February weight. So ready to get moving again. I'm dangerously close to where I don't want to be so let's do this people. ;)

I recently completed the LA Marathon and I figured if I can do that I should start calling myself a runner! So I changed my Spark name. I'm doing a lot of cross training and love doing races. I am doing a 5k later this month and another race in June. The weather is getting so nice and it feels great to be walking/running outside.

I also workout a lot at home. I have Coach Nicole's 28 day bootcamp and Body Groove. Those are my favorite/newest exercise DVDs.

Hey, I live in the mid-wilshire area too. I have kind of an erratic work schedule, but I'm trying to go running (/walking) more often. Which is how I learned that there's actually a park less than a mile from my house! Would love a workout buddy and/or suggestions on non-gym fitness classes.

I'm new to Spark... 3 days in and I went back to the gym last night... I'm hoping to successfully return to my normal weight by the end of April. I'm giving it everything I've got. It's hard living in L.A. after your weight has gotten out of control. Anywho! Let's do this!

Hi am new to Spark People, stumbling on this site in an article, and very glad I did. I am overweight, I have been up and down for the last 8 years or so, mostly up. I have made some progress but have never been able to stay consistent and keep my motivation for more than two months. I hope to find that here :) I know for me exercise is the biggest difficulty, but that is going to change. emoticon

I am new and I started the Master Cleanse on Day 4. Trying to find healthy activities that do not involve drinking as much as I used to. Healthy and sexy single ladies don't hurt anything either!

If anyone know any healthy food choices I'd love to hear about them also other places to workout besides 24. I had my mom as motivation but she stop her weight loss journey and I trying to continue on, what ways do you use to stay motivated?

Cant believe that i let myself go this much!!! I felt a pain on my heart and it scared me. I am here to find the additional motivation to lose this belly! I'm in echo park and I've this beautiful lake i can walk around. Also its fun to see the hipsters with their pods, american apparel , in their converse zoom by. I just need to catch up and pass them. The thing that is holding me back now is that I've been diagnosed with MS and i cant heat my body up too much or Ill have an episode and they hurt. emoticon so it looks like yogas and pilates for me but how do i start???

Hello I'm new here :) I'm a 24 year old female in the Miracle Mile area. I start week 4 of Couch 2 5k on Wednesday. Usually I run in the mornings with my boyfriend and dog at the La Brea Tar Pits.

HNYBEEAUTY when I lived in Los Feliz I hiked the Griffith park trails often. It's a lot of fun but the sharp inclines can be rough :) I always felt really good after finishing a hike there.

Hello everyone! I'm Abby from Woodland hills! I thought I'd try to find a spark team here in LA and I found it! Yay! I just started the C25K and I'm on week 3. Some of my friends and I have also started hiking at Wilacre Park by Laurel Cyn and Ventura. It's kind of hidden and I never knew about it until our friends brought us there. It's a nice 3 mile hike and we like to double the hike for a greater challenge. It rained last weekend so we didn't get to go :( . I noticed some people have started spark buddies. I think that's awesome! I think hiking by Griffith would be nice...I've never been.

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum, but I wanted to get involved with some of the teams to help motivate me and keep me accountable. :) I really like the idea of sharing things with people who are in my area. My goals are to really focus on my numbers. The number of calories in and the number of calories I burn off. So my biggest areas are daily calories and fitness. I just ran a 5K on Sunday (my first) and really enjoyed the challenge of it! So I'm doing the SparkPeople virtual 5K in April. I've been increasing my fitness levels and the warm weather has helped me get out more and enjoy the sunshine! Any good suggestions for places to hike with a dog? I've been to:
*Griffith Park
*runyon canyon park
*Tujunga Canyon area
*JPL area

Thanks for being the new team leader Annik. I love the Bev Center too. Believe it or not, I get a lot of exercise when I go there these days by walking a mile to get there. Then it's; shopping n' walking, lol.

Hello, ladies and sirs. I hope I'm not unwelcome here since I won't be moving until L.A. until May! I'm just trying to find some ways to eat healthier and control portion size. Hopefully I'll be able to lose about 20 pounds before the big move. Cross your fingers!
