Hello! I am like you and just signed up. I am 31 unemployed wannabe nurse. Graduated but been dragging my feet finding a job. Familiar pattern with me when I don't want to do something! I thought I might get healthier too whilst I look for a job.

Anyhow, to you dropping soda drinking... Going to diet soda is a first good step. Also try going to clear sodas. i.e. no caffeine. Part of the problem of quitting is the caffeine addiction. And when you do quit do not take up another avenue for caffeine! It sucks cutting out the caffeine...I know! But I digress...When you do drink soda do it in very small cups with a lot of ice. Force yourself to drink water in between cups. Basically just keep trying to cup back and increase water. I don't recommend putting stuff in the water unless it is like lemon. Crystal light packets are good for a treat but not all the time. It is retraining your taste buds to like water and not soda.

It is hard but doable. I worked at Circle K forever and picked up a horrible soda habit when there due to it being free.I was able to kick it while still working there. Did get off track with coffee but quickly said no to that. Caffeine withdrawal headaches are horrible! As of now when I actually do taste a soda it taste thick and overly sweet. A little verbose but I hope it helps!

Welcome! Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I switched from regular soda to diet, so I don't get the calories anymore, but I'm still having a hard time stopping that. All the best!

Hello everyone, I would space and tab here but my tablet won't allow me to. I started on sparkpeople last week Wednesday and has finally decided to drop in and introduce myself. I am 21 years old and my occupation is a caregiver. I have one child who will be five in November.I decided to loss weight because I completed a bio health thingy which told me my numbers were good, but my BMI was bad. So my main goal is reach a healthy a BMI and the weight loss is a bonus. In this past week I've lost a total of 5 pounds, big accomplishment for me considering I only exercised once, it has motivated me to exercise today also. what I've notices is a lot of calories come from regular soda, & if you were once a regular soda drinker, how did you kick the habit?
