Walking is on for Sun. 1/31 at 8 at Chaparral Park - more is better.

Hi,
With all the rain and wind, I'm cleaning up this weekend. I won't make it tomorrow but would be up for a walk next Sunday. 8 am works great.

It still looks pretty damp out there, but 3 of us have made plans to walk the 2 mile route at Chaparral Park Sunday at 8. We meet at the parking lot by the clubhouse (enter off Hayden/Jackrabbit, go to the end and turn right). If you want a slower walk, at 9 am going for a more sedate 1.5 mile loop starting from the same spot. Let me know if you're interested in either option.

Hi Carmen! I'm also near downtown and go walking with some other local Sparkers almost every weekend at Chaparral Park (around the lake are 1 mile, 1.5 mile, and 2 mile routes). With all the rain this week, don't know for sure if we'll get out there on Saturday or Sunday, but will post here tomorrow when the weather picture is more certain.

Hi,
Is any one walking during the week in South Scottsdale? I live near the downtown area and would love to find someone(s) to walk with outside or at the mall.
Thanks, Carmen

Hi Chris! I'm not really close to you - I live in downtown Scottsdale. Have been mostly retired for a couple of years, but just went back to work full time for the census for about 9 months (financing my travel bug). The only time I have to walk is on weekends, and even that is getting hard to manage. You might try contacting Skinnylynny50 - she's a lot closer to you, is a great hiker/walker and might be able to manage evenings. Good luck!

Hello - Would love to find a walking buddy or buddies. Does anyone walk in the evening? I have 3 young children and have been working part time in the morning. Carol, you are close to me (110th and FLW). Let me know when you go walking again and I'll try to make it ... I don't have a work assignment this week. Hope to meet up with you soon ... Chris

Hi Claire! We usually walk Chaparral at 8:30 am - we meet at the parking lot off Jackrabbit/Hayden and do the loop around the lake and soccer fields (1 1/2 miles). We're not doing it today 'cause I committed to helping my youngest daughter move, but next Sunday will be there. I also work out at the SCC Fitness Center at Chaparral/Loop 101. They have an extensive program of classes from Aerobics through Zumba, every machine you could imagine, free weights, and an indoor track where I walk when it is just plain too hot outside. I go totally free thanks to the Silver Sneakers program - more and more insurance companies are finding it cost effective to subsidize gym memberships/fitness programs rather than pay the cost of having us sit around arthritic and vegetating. If you're part of any health network, you should check it out. Let me know if you want to walk next Sunday and I'll send more detailed directions to the meeting point.

Hi Carol - was out of town and missed your post when you put it up. I'm also Carol, am 62, and have lost just over that much weight since joining SP. I work out at the SCC Fitness Center (along with lots of others our age), walk in Chaparral Park and, when the weather cools down a bit, some hiking along our preserve trails. I'm near downtown Scottsdale, am semi-retired with 3 daughters and 7 grands (2 DDs and 4 GKs live locally). Another SparkFriend and I walk the 1 1/2 mile loop around Chaparral Lake almost every Sunday morning, and hiking is usually on Saturday with others I've met here - if you're interested in joining in, please let me know. SP has so many great tools and resources to help educate and keep up motivation - hope you take advantage of all there is available.

Hi - my name is Carol, I am 61 and about that much over weight. I do smile and laugh a lot, love my family and am a creative person. I am an artist, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink and oils. I also do graphic design on the computer and love doing digital stories - mostly concerning family histories and memories. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, lovely children (four sons and a daughter) and delightful grandchildren (six altogether!). I am also lucky to have some faithful friends who encourage and try to keep me on the right track! I have been flirting with SP for about a month and now ready to go for it!
