I don't have any experience with HcG, but it seems like you are doing well (down 16 pounds, that is impressive!) without it.

For me, I always ask myself: can I do xxx it forever? That has stopped me from doing much of anything except logging calories and increasing exercise...

Rosa,

Welcome to the Gilbert Team! I have done the hCG diet (3 rounds) the first time I went through a medspa clinic in Mesa and did the injections for a short cycle and lost almost 30 lbs. The next cycle I started after a 6 week break and I did not commit and ended up gaining the weight back. The 3rd time I purchased sublingual drops and got about half way through and ended up stopping because I was not able to reach a point where I didnt feel like I wanted to eat a small village of children (did not experience hunger pain while I did the injections). I read and followed the book The Weight Loss Cure and found other resources online such as recipes and a free copy of Pounds & Inches (Simeon). It is an extremely strict low calorie diet where you are only allowed 500 calories per day and the food selections are extremely limited as well. I did not go all crazy with the organic personal hygiene products that are recommended.
My overall experience taught me that it was just a short term fix to a long term problem and that it just was not worth the money spent (the injections from the medspa cost me $600+ on top of buying organic meat/fruit/veggies/spices). Bottom line if you are able to stick to such a strict low calorie diet then you are able to stick to a clean food regime and save yourself the money of the hCG, because guess what the end result and maintenance phase will tell you to eat clean foods so why not just start there.

Hi Rosa,
I will go about this a different approach...rather than sending you a link on how research doesnt support HCG results, .....I will give you a few suggestions, since it sounds like you are desiring to utilize HCG...
1) I would only use the HCG at a reputable facility, where there is a physician on staff, and support staff who can help answer any of your questions. Most of them will give you dietary suggestions/a plan to follow. It has been suggested too that the serum they use is the real deal, unlike serums you can buy on the internet. You never know what you pay for!
2) You can find a lot of HCG information online, but I think its best to do any plan under the advice of a physician, especially since I know of a few centers that have their patients on a 500-1000 calorie diet. That seems very radical to me, and can cause health problems if you aren't getting the amount of calories/nutrition your body requires.
3) HCG is a temporary fix and shouldnt be used forever...so I would suggest not using this as a yo-yo plan.....that can cause changes in your metabolism. Instead, stick with a calorie and exercise plan that you can follow to help maintain your metabolism.
Blessings and good luck :)

What does your family doctor have to say about this diet?

"In 1995, researchers analyzed 14 clinical trials on the hCG diet. Only two concluded hCG was any more effective than a placebo at helping people lose weight. And nearly 10 years earlier, a report in the Canadian Medical Association Journal stated hCG has "no value" as a means of managing obesity, and that the diet has been "thoroughly discredited and thus rejected by the majority of the medical community."
