This is not a board for posts. It is an information board. emoticon

1. I'm a new member. Can I jump into a board and start talking or do I introduce myself first, then wait to meet people before I talk on the boards?

If you are a new member to the team, feel free to jump into the middle of any board. We encourage you to explore the boards and even if its an old topic, you are welcome to post. Sometimes a fresh take on an old subject is helpful for all. Feel free to introduce yourself in this forum as that's another quick way to meet other team members. You don't have to wait to post, we'd love to get to know you.

2. I'm single without any children, which is why I'm a member of this group. I do date though. Do I have to leave?

No. There are members who are dating casual - meaning they are not seeing one person exclusively or only go out on the occasional date. Dating is part of the single scene and it's expected that at any given time, someone in the team will be going out on a date.

3. I went from dating to being in an exclusive relationship. Do I have to leave the group? What if I break up, can I return?

If you are in an exclusive relationship we ask that you leave the group. As the introduction to the group states, we are a group of individuals who have no significant other, no boyfriend or girlfriend. As a matter of courtesy, we'd love if you share your happy news with us. Some members have left the team and are still in regular contact with the friends they made here. Last, you may definitely return to the team if (sadly) the relationship ends.

4. What do you mean by "exclusive dating" or "being in a committed relationship"?

Exclusive dating or being in a committed relationship means that you are dating someone exclusively and are seen as a "couple".

5. I have an adult child who doesn't live in my home. In some circles, I'm considered "single without a child" - is that true here?

No. We are a group of individuals who have no children which includes having no adult children living out of the home. We ask that if you have an adult child that you excuse yourself from the group. There are excellent single groups on Spark for those with (or without) children and if you are unsure where those groups are, please ask. We'd be glad to help you find them.

6. I like playing games. Can I start a game up in the Fun and Games folder?

Absolutely! Games are fun and if you have an idea, go ahead and post it. The only thing we require is that you stay within the rules of SparkPeople.

7. Speaking of, am I allowed to start new topic boards or is that only for team leaders?

All members are welcome to start new topic boards. Or post in old boards and revive a converstion. The more members participate in the team, the stronger the team becomes, which in turn really helps to support and motivate all members.

8. I like the look of capital letters and prefer to talk in street slang or use text language. Will this be a problem?

Capital letters can be difficult for some members to read as the letters tend to jump around the page, making it very difficult for some to focus on the words. If reading posts is a difficulty for you, there are tools in Windows that will enlarge print and making reading that much simpler. If you need help as to where this is, please ask and we'll be sure to help you out.

Text language, street slang and over-use of abbreviations can also be difficult for some members to read. Members are from all over the globe and for some, English is a 2nd language. Too many text abbreviations and street slang (specific for local areas) may make it difficult for some members. Since your post is important, please try to refrain or keep it down to a minimum.

If you have any questions please contact one of the leaders - our names are found on the upper right column on the main team page. Send us off a spark message and we'll be happy to answer your question. Thanks for being part of our wonderful group!!
