Welcome to the Army, hooah!

This is the best time to loose the weight while you DH is gone. I too last 60 pounds. I did it in 6 months of my DH's deployment! It was a beautiful thing and it was like he was comming home to another wife! You can do it. Stay busy, wtach your calorie intake and we are here if you need to talk or have any Army questions! Hooah!

Keep moving!

Thanks for the welcome. And thank you so much for the answers. (thank you DH as well) They told him that there was a 2 week hold sometimes three before he would reiceive mail in reception. I thought that was odd but like I said I am new to the army so I was gonna go with it. So he will not get in trouble for me sending care packages as long as there is no contraband? That is what every one has been teling me that if I send him packages that he will get in trouble! I dont want to cause him any trouble he is having a hard enough time as is LOL!

Oh and just for the record I can't spell worth a hoot and I am to lazy to spell check LOL! So no need to correct me I usually know it is misspelled!

Hello Shelly ... welcome to the group. I went directly to the source with your questions. My DH is a Drill Sergeant (not at Ft. Knox). He said that letters are to be handed out as they arrive. There is NO withholding of mail -- that's a federal offense. Once your letter is received at BCT it is to be handed out at mailcall.

As far as items that you can send --- you can send anything...however, contraband items such as alcohol, food, & candy will NOT be delivered to him until Family Day/Graduation. The best items to send him are toothbrush, toothpaste, foot powder, deodorant, razors, toiletries, stamps, paper, envelops, etc.

I hope this helps.

HAHAHA you opened the door to a million and one questions running through my head lol. Kidding but there is a couple of things I would really like to know is when do they start receiving mail? He started basic the 25th so he has been in for 11 days. I have gotten about 4 letters from him since he started basic and in each one he has asked if I have written. (Little does he know he has a letter from everyday he has been gone to read LOL). But anyway when do they start allowing them mail? I know some places are different but the round about answer is all I am looking for.

The second question is simple what exactally am I allowed to send him. I know many people have told me so many different things that I dont wanna send a damn thing since they all say so many different reasons. I know I can send pics and cards and letters but what about other things ie... razors(some have told me to send a good razor other have said no), I know i cant send food or snacks. Ok I wont bore you with anymore rambling lol!

Thanks for the congrats I have worked hard to get to where I am!
