I've got the Jillian 30 Day Shred, but I haven't tried it yet, and I believe that it's for the better right now, as I'm going into low key with 2 major surgeries this month. I loved doing Jillian, when I was at Curves, and man, I would talk trash back to that big screen TV and the other ladies would just laugh at me and think it was funny, but I was being serious, as I was that intense into what she was dishing out. It was with Jillian, that I was able to do my very first MAN's style push-up! I was so STOKED, when that happened, and I screamed at the screen, "I did it Jillian! You couldn't keep me in that condescending modified position! I beat you at your own workout!" The ladies just laughed, but I was oh so serious! It was so much FUN!

Blessings!

Yes, I'm on MFP. They are so mean to people there. I personally can handle it and give it back, but it bugs me how awful they are to newbies and other people. Makes me so mad! Their fitness tracker is still lacking, and if I didn't have some fellow low-carbers following my journal, I'd move my food tracking over here too. I help mod a low-carb group over there of nice, helpful people. But the way they set up their groups and people being jaded from the toxic environment of the general forum, it's just not as cozy over there as it is here. I can track my steps here on SP, too, and keep track of mileage.

I have the standard Walk Away the Pounds and then the Walk/Kick, Walk Strong and Walk/Jog. I may need to look into the others to look at the more intense ones as I've moved past their level. I've been working out for 6 months. I have Jillian Michaels videos. But not many steps and it's just too high-intensity. I'm more of an endurance person, than a Kill-yourself-in-20-min gal. I can do the Level 1 on 30-day Thread, but sometimes I just don't feel like I want to be in a boot camp.

Bacon,

You're really doing well, and I want to see you continue to make it to all of your mini goals! I love working out with Leslie Sansone! I have at least 10 of her DVDs and man she can get really intense. I have one that when I finished it and put the information into RunKeeper it told me that I was doing a 12 minute mile! WOW! Like I say, she can get really intense and I LOVE IT!!!

Yes, keep pushing to beat what you did the previous day, but do it safely, so you don't hurt yourself. Are you by chance on MFP? I use to be there too, and for months I worked both of the sites, but MFP didn't have anything to offer me, like SP did. Of course that was a long while back and MFP had was logging food and exercise, and just chit chatting and nothing else, like they appear to have now. I get so many emails from them with what their doing and even recipes from them. However, it was too hard to keep that up so I stuck with SP.

High knees and keep stepping!

Blessings!

Thank you for all the responses! I'd brave the elements and walk outside anyway, but the yard is mushy from rain. Bleh.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I managed just over 8000 yesterday. I have a Leslie Sansone video that I modify by walking back and forth through the whole thing and doing walking kicks and knee-lifts instead of stationary. And I got on the treadmill since the yard is still wet. It rained last night. Today is a strength-training workout but I'll still try to beat my total of yesterday.

I lost my weight while tracking on another site, but this one is better so far for tracking my fitness goals...which is ironic considering they have "fitness" in their name. So I'll continue to track food over there, but my exercises over here.

Happy stepping, guys! emoticon

You've come to the right place! We're here to help you. I love walking and hiking, so I dislike the cold weather when I can't. I don't have the room, or the money, for a treadmill, so I use exercise tapes to help get steps in. I have an exercise bike that helps a lot - which I will be able to use again when we take the tree down this weekend. I also hula hoop a lot, and that's another good way to get steps in.

Happy birthday and I feel your pain. I work from home, live on a rural ranch and homeschool too. I have found on the days that I am not getting my steps in I stop and march in place or pace while talking to people in my family. My 18-yro DD now looks at me and says "Getting your steps in mom?" - YEP - anything it takes to hit that 10K a day. I live in the northern climates and it is cold and icy outside so the treadmill and a small step that hubby built for me are on my must list.

I live somewhere with cold wet winters......I have gradually acquired the coats, hats, scarves, and shoes that allow me to walk even in nasty weather.

We have a treadmill and an exercise bike that are set up so we can watch TV while using them.

When I walk I have a phone with music loaded on it and earbuds so I can listen when I walk.

Never, never, never give up

It is hard in the winter to get steps in. For me, the snow and ice make it dangerous to go out. There are videos you can use to walk at home and I've used them. Sometimes they are fun and use different muscles than you might use while walking forward.

I also use video games (I have some from a couple of years ago) and use them to keep moving.

You can do this.

Happy Birthday.

Where the cold and rain come I just get my walk in my house. Old Man Winter will not keep me from getting my exercise in. Usally I walk 1hour then wait and do my other hour. But most of the time I try and do the 2 hour at once. I also get on my gazelle.

I "aspire" to 10K a day and do the best I can. This SP thing is amazing. I've been sparking for just about a year now. Never stuck with anything before.

Hi! I'm a 36 year-old mom of 4. I homeschool them and I'm currently schooling 7th, 5th, and 1st grades. Winters here are often cold and yucky, and since we are rural, my daily walks used to be in our yard. Now it's muddy and cold. I miss my walks and haven't been getting very many steps in even though I do strength training workouts 3 times a week at home (dumbbells). I've lost just over 70lbs but this last 30-some are being a bear and I can't help think some of that is because I'm not getting anywhere near as many steps in. If I have to go into the dungeon (the basement) and walk on the treadmill in the cold darkness then I'm going to make myself do it!

Happy New Year everyone! It's my birthday today, and I'm more determined than ever. emoticon
I'm new to SparkPeople as well so I'm clueless. I'll look around for a "Getting in Steps Tips" thread. Have a great day, everyone.
