I have alot of health issues also that has led me here to loose weight also. I am a slow looser. But as long as I can hold it steady and not gain any back. Alot of it is will-power and leaving out alot of sugars and starches. Alot of my trouble is portion sizes. If I could get that solved Im sure I could loose more faster. I wish you alot of Luck. Its a GREAT site.

emoticon Mystyryone! it sounds weird to say, "Glad you're here". But guess I should say, "Glad you found us"!

There are a lot of us in the same boats just like you. And others of us have one foot in your boat and the other in our own little boat. But the main thing is....we are all still rowing and emoticon .

I am new to Spark People. I am glad to see there are others here in the same place as I am in terms of having a lot of weight to lose and being older. I can use all the help I can get to lose the weight and make lifestyle changes to improve my health. I am 52 and have developed metabolic syndrome, Syndrome X, whatever they are calling it now.....high blood pressure, prediabetes, 100+ lbs? overweight. I have IBS as well. I also have mobility issues due to previous injuries. My family health history includes heart problems, stroke, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and Alzheimer's/ Dementia. Developing a healthier lifestyle is extremely important to me, with attaining a healthier weight being part of that goal.
