Hello,
I'm new here myself, although I was a member some 14 years ago or so. I agree with keeping up with the food tracker. I think it is a great resource. I am starting out really small with my exercise. Trying to keep everything within reason for me. Everyone is different, you have to work at YOUR pace. And I hear you about the stress, in both cases. Good Luck in your journey. ~B~

Though it's been about 2 months since I've come back again, I was also away from a while. I learn something new all the time - and this site is a great place to get encouragement. I am still not done exploring everything it has to offer. But what I can tell you something I've learned - it's different for everyone. I have a problem with real stress and self-imposed stress. For example, I committed to 10 minutes of exercise everyday, and while it's hard to imagine, the days I could not find the time, it actually made me more stressed. So, what I am learning is to do what works for me. Now it's not 10 minutes a day, it's more like picking a goal for an entire week. I know this sounds almost childish, but I had to learn from all the times I've fallen. Just get up, learn, and keep going. Also, I extend myself grace. And most importantly, don't give up.

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all the day long. Psalm 25:5

One of the things that really made a difference for me was tracking my food. When I first joined, I didn't do that and had rather dismal results. The tracking showed me how much and what food I needed to be eating. Although I am not at a healthy weight (yet), I feel so much better with energy to tackle things.
Another caution is not to try to do it all at once. Small, sustained changes can be built upon so it becomes part of your lifestyle rather than a restrictive diet and exercise program.
Best of luck - you can succeed!

I joined this time awhile ago, but never posted anything or got involved. At this point, can use some support from others--not getting anywhere on my own. Thanks for establishing this group, I'm going to give a shot at trying to check in (do I sound tentative?) regularly.
