Hello! I admire you for all you do even though you have a number of health restrictions. Soon you will be adding another skill to your quiver - living a healthy lifestyle, which Spark really helps us to do. Although I am not a normal weight (yet) I do feel better than ever and more fit. My A1C numbers fall into the normal range now. Spark has played a large part in my sense of well being.
I suggest not making any drastic changes at first - easing into a better way of eating helped make healthier habits stick for me. I first started by cutting desserts/cookie snacks. Then after a few weeks of that, I stopped eating anything after dinner. Those were my two big problems. Now I save desserts for special occasions and rarely have something after dinner. What are your triggers probably are different. The other aspect was exercise.Walking works for me - slowly building to 5+ miles a day. Good luck on your journey - we are all here for you!

Welcome and good luck. Try to flip the switch on thinking of it as a diet and think of it as a healthy lifestyle.

Good luck to you!

Hi,
I?m not really new here. I?ve been here before and wish I would have stayed. Weight lose I?s so hard. I hate it when people say ?just don?t eat?. I have many health issues and many diet restrictions. I had cancer surgery this year, and for now I am cancer free. I had the lower left lung and 11 lymph nodes removed. In addition. I have LUPUS, fibromyalgia, diabetes, kidney disease, gout and minor heart problems. Needless to say I spend a lot of time visiting doctors.

Having said all that, please don?t think I?m trying to start a pity party. I have a fabulous life and I live it fully. I have a wonderful and supportive family. Last year my daughter bought a house with in-law quarters and I now live with her.

I love to read, travel, go to movies and spend time with the family. I also do Tai Chi, quilting, crochet, and am learning to watercolor.

I?ve been over weight for about 25 years. I?m going to be 71 this year and I really hate the thought of dieting!! My doctor suggested I try the D.A.S.H diet. So, I?m going to give it a try. So Monday is my launch day (the day after Easter). I will track my progress!
