@RAMBLINROSE61 Look for other goals to meet. Like staying off soda for a week, re-organizing one kitchen drawer a day for a week....small goals to distract from the plateau blues.

When we are on an upbeat we want to do everything at once and hopefully see a quick change. Your son is right. It does take patience. We have to get a grip on each change and let our bodies and mind adjust. Then add another good change. It may be slower but our bodies won't think we are starving or under some other tress and try to rebound us into gaining more weight. It is a hard struggle. I think a good habit takes about two months to get into our systems. (?) For me it was tracking my food that made a difference for me, when I got started. You could got through the items on the small changes Challenge and see if one or two of those are things you could commit to and add more when you get a handle on them. Of course, I do not know where you are in your journey and you may have tried this. I can only speak from my experience. May you find your small change that really helps you. Still sending warm wishes and I hope you feel better. emoticon

Every day is a new beginning! Carpe Diem!

CASPERMULAN1 thank you for your kind words. My son seems to think it is a patience problem. I go like gang busters in the beginning then when I hit a plateau and try different things then give up. I am doing great right now even tho I am sick. I want it all off now.

Been thinking about you and sending good wishes. I know you have tried a million things by now. Just wondering if your changing too much at one time. Picking one or two things only and just sticking by them has helped me a lot. I do not know what will work for you but don't give up. This may be a big challenge, but hang in there. You are worth it. emoticon

I try to walk in the park every day. Not very pleasant this time of year. It is almost raining every day and it makes you feel cold and damp.Spring is coming. emoticon

Are you able to spend time in the garden or park?

I wish I could grow roses!

I believe that I am less likely to procrastinate if I change my "wish" to "will", my "like to" to "try to", and my "have to" to "want to".

Thank you all for your kind words and support. That is what I didn't get last time. I joined a group that rarely posted. My first day did not go as planned. After a wonderful egg in a basket breakfast I spent the rest of the day in the emergency room. I has chest pain just a drop in potassium level. All is well. I didnt get lunch just yuccky potassium. Does that mean I get two dinners emoticon . I love bread too. That is my weakness. Love to bake it too. I grew up in Minnesota and we had bread at every meal.

Yep, yours is a familiar story. I'm 83 and finally found my "life plan". Took this long to concede that I have to watch my diet the rest of my life. My favorite choices were sandwiches, so it took a lot to give up bread for the paleo plan. I've dieted so much that it was less hard to give up sugar. Amazingly it works for me, tho I did have one of my favorite sandwiches on lettuce instead of bread yesterday. Messier, but good. Hang in there, and find a plan you can happily stay with forever.

Hi, my name is Rose. I have been on SparkPeople well over a year ago.I am back. Since that time I have tried many ways to lose weight. I was able to lose 20 to 30 pounds on almost all of them but couldn't keep it up. Each time I gained back double what I lost. I am now at a point of desperation. If I don't lose the weight this time I feel I will die. Since I am over 50 by a decade my insurance won't pay for surgery. I need all the help and support I can get.
