Welcome! CAPECODLIGHT gave you great advice. As a type 2 as well, I will tell you the BIGGEST thing you can do to help yourself is educate yourself. Read. Ask questions. Join one of the many SP Diabetes Management groups. Get a referral to a Diabetic educator. It all helps.

Love is the root of all things good in life.

I am also diabetic and just starting this journey. I want to prevent having to go on insulin. I'm working on making out menu plans so I can grocery shop smarter. If I have healthy choice sin the kitchen i figure I can do better with my eating habits.

Hi, Brianna. Welcome! You will find the information, inspiration and support to live a healthier lifestyle here on Spark. You mentioned you were diabetic. I am Type 2. Although I am still significantly above an ideal weight, I have been able to control my A1C results through diet and exercise.
My advice would be to focus on small changes at first - don't try to do everything at once, that's a recipe for failure. Food consumption is 80% of losing weight; so that would be the main focus rather than hitting the gym for starters.
Also, set some goals to achieve non-scale victories - like drinking 8 glasses of water a day - little victories add up. I think getting enough fluid every day is critical to losing weight; so that would be a good place to start.
All the best on your journey. Look up diabetes related info here to help. I also like the website dLife. We are all here to help.
