Hello, I also came back to spark after being gone for many years now. It is not the best time to start this program, but I am going to take one day at a time, and hope I will make better choices through the holidays and not overeat to much junk food. Good Luck to everyone! emoticon

There are several videos of chair exercises here on SP. Pick one to try today and let us know how it went!

Thank you for the suggestion of Chair exercises - I hadn't even thought of them! I'll get on that right now!

Oh goodness, no reason to fear re-joining. You did the right thing. Be sure to take the tour as things Iím sure have changed. Just try to focus on 5-10 lb. increments of loss, itís less overwhelming. Thatís how I handled it. And heck, at least you have your buddy who joined. Thatís good support.

Start off checking out chair exercises. That might be a good place to begin this journey.

Changes are always hard to start, but youíve taken the first step and started! Good luck.

Christina had good advice for you in looking @ the positive and focus on small changes, like cutting down on portion sizes of what you eat. Thatís a good place to begin.

Always remember, youíre not alone! Weíre here for you.

Thank you Christina! (and thanks for the joke right off the bat!)

You are, of course, right, that I should focus on the future and not the past.

And while it may seem like I don't need to track food, I do. If I don't I lie to myself, forget what I ate, and generally become befuddled and mystified when I don't lose weight because I am eating too much! So, me, I have to track. I don't have to like it. I just have to do it.

Thanks for your encouragement!

Kate

Hi - welcome!

Maybe it's best to just look at the positive and what you can 'gain' (ha ha) from being here rather than comparing to what once was and not focus on what you hate. You don't have to track food. You could also make a food plan with more or less the same lunches and breakfasts and agree to eat just one reasonable size plate of food at dinner. That would be a good start, I think.
SP is a good place to be, take advantage of it!

Hello all!

I am a new member to this team but not new to SparkPeople. I joined SP years ago and it was great for me. Then I left SP for a variety of reasons, and over the past 6 years have gained over 100 pounds and lost all fitness (I was a marathoner six years ago - yikes!)

I am fearful about rejoining SP because it was so good last time and I might be expecting too much from it this time. Plus, I am so far behind where I was when I started last time. But I promised a friend to rejoin her here, so I am going to give it a try.

Need to find some form of exercise my body can handle. Need to get back to tracking my food - boy do I hate doing that! Need to make some changes. So here goes!
