Welcome. It's not easy to get that diagnosis (I am type 2). It is daunting, but definitely DO learn all you can. It is crucial. Have you seen a dietitian?? That's a good start. And definitely do check out the spark people link that was shared w/you.

Do be aware that simple carbs are very difficult for diabetics to metabolize. SUGAR, processed foods, "the whites" (white rice, white potatoes, white flour).
