I have plantar fasciitis and am limiting my walking. How long did it take you to heal and be able to exercise again?

Hello, BOYS3INSC:

Welcome! I'm new to this particular team, too. I've been a SP member for maybe 3 or 4 years, and lost initially 35 pounds, then put 10 back on. Sweets are a weakness of mine, too. A treat I make for myself is my version of a "fat bomb". Few carbs, but of course loaded with fat. My recipe is:

1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp cocoa (baking) powder
1 pkt Stevia (or use your favorite).

255 calories, 7 carbs, 27 fat, 5 protein, 3 fiber.

I heat it for 30 seconds in the mic in a small dish, put it in the freezer, and eat it in the evening for my snack. To me it tastes like fudge. You can judge for yourself whether you would prefer that over a candy bar. I'm just trying to limit my carbs, and I still limit fat, except for this.

Hi BOYS3INSC:

I too had major problems last year with my feet. I also have thyroid disease. My advice to you is to try and do some exercises while your sitting down. I didn't do anything but feel sorry for myself and I am regretting now that all I did was sit there and suffer with my feet and ot try to do some exercising sitting down. Something is always better then nothing.

Welcome! You have a lot of challenges, but you can do this. Take it a day-at-a-time. It's not about denying ourselves things. That never works. But weigh, measure, track and yes, plan. That's all necessary.

I am trying to loose weight a healthy way without taking medications. I can loose if I really watch my carbs but I seem to regress after awhile. I plan my meals and snacks for awhile then I get slack and stop planning and just grab something. Chocolate and sweets are my weakness. I crave something sweet at times. I was exercising regularly but then I started having plantar fasciitis so now I am pretty sedentary trying to let that heal. I am also hypothyroid but I think that is finally under control with medication. What I want from Spark People is encouragement and eating ideas so that maybe I won't regress like I have in the past.
