emoticon I just read an article on yogurts.
Yogurts with more sugar than a Twinkie. I did a blog on it with a link to the article if you are interested. Woke me up, I thought yogurt was "diet" friendly. Excuse the 4 letter word. emoticon

YES YES YES! Sugar binds with protein, which causes damage, which releases free radicals, which causes damage (read: inflammation). Definitely have to:

cut out sugar/simple carbs/gluten

say "YES" to healthy fat (did you know our brains are 60-70% fat! Yes we are fat heads! so we need healthy fats in the diet!) What are healthy fats? olive oil, avocado, coconut oil, fresh cold water fish, grass fed beef or poultry, dairy/eggs, nuts and seeds.

And of the 60-70% of our brain that is comprised of fat, 25% is cholesterol, so we have to get that in our diet (dairy/eggs do nicely) Of course the key is moderation.

eat LOW on the glycemic index -- if you had to choose which is the WORST thing for you, see if you get it right --

a. whole grain bread
b. white bread
c. sugar
d. candy bar

I was shocked to learn from Dr. Pehrlmutter (prominent neurologist) that whole grain bread is the absolute worst! You get the gluten factor and the sugar as the starch is broken down quickly in your system.

you can do the no sugar thing if you have a mine to. i have been off sugar treats since jan 1 and the only sugar i get is what little is in food regularly and i always make sure its a small amount. good luck routing for you all the way.

You are making progress - some other things that help with inflammation include turmeric, ginger, and garlic - inflammation is often associated with pain and diseases. You are making some wise decisions.

Trying something new. I've been experiencing a lot of pain and the doctor said I have inflammation. After reading up on it, the number one recommendation is to cut sugar and flour out of my diet. Day 3 and it's tough...but I feel good. Feeling good trumps sugar! Losing weight will also help with the pain. I'm on the brink of a HUGE life change and I'm ready. Bring it on!
