Welcome to the team. Be patient and find your way around. It is well worth it. One day at a time. It's a great place with great people and lots of useful, logical information. It's very important to interact with others. Mutual encouragement is the most important tool. Nutrition tracker and Fitness tracker are helpful incentives, especially in the beginning.

Glad you chose to join us on this journey to a healthier and happier lifestyle. You'll find a caring and compassionate group here with plenty of support and encouragement each time you post.

For additional inspiration and motivation read some of the Success Stories above. You'll meet ordinary people who have achieved extraordinary things with Spark People. The good news is you also have a success story to live and tell.

I suggest using the Nutrition Tracker (above left under My Tools) to monitor your food intake. I was surprised just how many calories I was eating and how distorted my portions were. The Tracker also has recommended ranges of nutrients to support a healthy weight loss program. By adding drinking 8 cups of water and exercising consistently you will have the basic elements of a great weight loss plan.

This is not a diet. It is not about deprivation. It is about portion control, moderation and healthy choices. Toss the junk food and have plenty of veggies and fruits on hand.

Take small steps to reach your goals so you can experience ongoing success. Start with drinking the water and once that is a habit add another step. Its always desirable to set yourself rewards for each mini goal reached.

Come back soon and post often. On the Team Page you'll find Forums with a variety of topics. Just choose those of interest and join right in the conversation. Welcome.

Welcome! Well, take your time learning this site. Keep reading and posting. Involvement helps on so many levels. First of all, you will find out you're not alone. Secondly, you'll find out that whatever hurdles you are experiencing someone else has already tacked (or is currently tackling). Third, there is soooo much information and inspiration to be found on this site.

Good luck on this journey. It's not a diet -- it's a journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Love is the root of all things good in life.

Welcome to our team! Now to help you get started:
1. Get your spark page set up and start blogging. It is already set up on your spark page for you.
2. Follow the Spark Diet and Spark Fitness plan for you. It is all worked out for you once you fill in your information.
3. Log in everyday and record your food intake and fitness accomplishments. You also want to check in with your teams. They are there to help you along the way. You will find all the support, encouragement, motivation and inspiration from the friends you will make.
4. Remember, to take your time getting to learn your way around. Be patient with yourself. I was a slow starter but within my first week, I could maneuver around the site pretty well.
5. Read the wealth of information that is available to you. I have learned so much about nutrition and exercises since I joined Sparkpeople.
6. Journaling is also important, try to get into the habit as soon as possible. I am still struggling with daily journaling but I do try to at least 3 times per week.
7. Have fun! I have enjoyed meeting people, trying new foods and walking daily. It is really paying off for me. Since starting at the end of August, I have lost 16 1/2 pounds and numerous inches off of my body. When I first started I could barely walk around the block without getting totally winded and now I am walking 4.26 miles per day. It is great fun to get on the scale every week and see more weight loss and then be able to wear clothes that has just been taking up space in the closet unused for so long because it had been too small for me.
8. Believe in yourself! emoticon
