I think the increase is so you get enough calories to expend towards excercise.

Thanks for the welcome and the wonderful advice! Am using trackers, and have committed to following the advice. I was amazed that I had a 1200-1500 cal allotment when I started, then did my fitness routine and they upped it 1340-1660!!! What's up with that?

Hello and welcome. I am fairly new as well. Be sure to read the articles offered on motivation and wellness, they are great. Food tracking is great too. You really don't know what you've eaten until you write it down. It will give you a reality check. Best of luck,

I'm with Vellaeh...the food and nutrition tracker has been the single most important thing for me....amazing how off kilter I was in terms of portion sizes and calorie intake before I started tracking. It enabled me to know exactly where I stand at any given time during the day and make better choices throughout the day as a result. In spite of the fact that it does take a little time, I love it and wouldn't give it up.
