Thank you so much for your kind words, and encouragement! You know, if I made my grandmother's pizza recipe somehow diet, it wouldn't taste the same, so I'll refrain from making it. ;*)

Marianne,
Don't worry! You can't change everything at once.
We didn't get into our bad habits overnight, and it takes a little time to make the changes needed to live a healthy lifestyle and lose weight.

That's what is so great about this program and this website. We're encouraged to make small changes at first, like drinking 8 cups of water a day for example, or setting a goal to eat 5 fruit/veggie servings a day. Once you see that you're able to be consistent with attaining small goals every day, it becomes easier to add and attain another goal.

Small healthy choices add up! One time when you want to reach for that cookie, eat a sweet, juicy piece of fruit instead. One small choice, but it will make it easier to make that choice the next time.

It sounds like you love to cook. Great news! Chef Meg, and other members of the site as well have come up with ways to make the foods we love in a healthier way, so you can still make cookies and pizza fit into your meal plan! click Healthy Lifestyle at the top of the page, then SparkRecipes.com

Don't worry so much about what the scale says for the moment. At first, you may see changes in the way you feel, your energy level will go up when you eat better etc, before the number on the scale starts to move...and yes, sometimes the number moves the wrong way for a brief time while the metabolism is adjusting. That's happening to me right now, but I feel so much more energetic most of the time and my waistline has shrunk noticeably...even though the scale doesn't reflect it yet.

Take it slow, and enjoy the support you will get here on the way! emoticon Rosalie

emoticon emoticon Lots of good info and encouragement here. The nutrition tracker has me dropping 8 pounds a month - and I have found that trying to get as many sparkpoints as I can in one week actually provided tons of information and inspiration. Work with it a couple of weeks and you will notice the scale falling. It's great!

Current long range goal is to get down to 150 pounds and get really strong so I can hike again. I have a plan to buy the many things I will need for my dream flyfishing trip and have laid out which ones I can buy at each 10 pound loss.

Welcome to the team.

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.

Great for getting on the treadmill! One step at a time is how it works! you will learn to replace those snacks with healthy ones - my favorite is an apple!

Great for you that you got on that treadmill...the first time can be the hardest but ongoing effort takes just that, effort. Keep temptation out your way...you'll gain confidence with each success. All the best!

Don't stress! Take a deep breath and get over it. You need to just go on like it's a bump your over and can get going on the rest of your journey. No body does everything perfect. We all mess up and we don't let it derail us. You can do this. Get rid of temptation and don't cook any more of it. Lets keep going and enjoy doing it. emoticon emoticon

Looks like I'm new and blew it already, had breakfast and then two snacks already and it's not even lunch, one of the snacks was a slice of pizza I made, grandma's recipe, then two cookies I made yesterday. But, I did walk on the treadmill, so I have to get some good feedback from that.
