Sandy is so terrible. I am on the West Coast, glued to the TV news and weather channel watching all this madness. I have a spark friend in NJ a half mile from the ocean. Haven't heard from her for two days now. She writes a blog everyday and I am really worried about her and her family. I don't think they evacuated.

Our rivers are running high and we have flood alerts now. We will have heavy rain today and tomorrow. My building is half way up a steep hill so we will be fine if our rivers go over their banks, just won't be able to get anywhere but I am very well stocked up on food and dry goods.

I have sleep issues too but not medicine related. It is my brain that keeps me awake. My doctor prescribed me something to relax me and all it did was cause me anxiety and was awake all night so am not taking them. I take no medications and am 70 years old.

Hi Timothy,

Thanks for your reply. I have no trouble getting to sleep; but, in an hour or less the BPH gets me up to visit the head. This takes enough time that I feel awake before I finish. Now here's the weird part: If I take requip to the exclusion of mirapex, I can get back to bed. But, if I take any mirapex to treat RLS that is presently manifesting symptoms, I get so fired up about one or more of my current interests that, before I realize what I am doing, I am sitting at the computer, for example, and answering these messages at five in the morning. If I just went back to bed, I would go back to sleep; but, right now, I don't feel like it. Isn't that nuts? Any suggestions? Anyone?

By the way, I am 78 years old.

BPH gets me up 4 - 5 times a night and the dopamine agonists I take for RLS keep me up. That 's why I have to get to bed now. I was up very early. Also, I have friends in New York City I am worried about. Sorry to dwell on my troubles. I'll take time to read the board tomorrow.
