Hi Dee and welcome to the team. I'm sorry to hear about all your losses and about your health issues. What a terrible time you've had. But the good news is, that you joined the right team. You couldn't ask for a better group of ladies and gentlemen to help inspire you on your weight loss journey. emoticon

To change your body you must change your mind.

Focus on how far you've come, not how far you have to go.

Hi there ~

I have been a spark member for a long time .... I belong to a few other groups but the reason I am joining this one is because I am 46 years old and have been through a lot these past couple of years. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, lost my mom this past May (to leukemia) and my little brother passed away suddenly from a heart attack last month (he was just 42!!) ~

After I finished chemo I was put on Tamoxifen for a year and I gained about 30 pounds on that (I was about 40 pounds overweight to start with -- now I am 70 pounds overweight!) ~ and soooo depressed!

As my username suggests..... I am a registered dietitian -- and yet -- it seems like everything I know doesn't work anymore! I couldn't be more frustrated!! :(

Between being in my 40s (boy, it is true what I always heard - that once you hit 40 it is harder to lose weight!) ... chemo (which decreases muscle mass), tamoxifen (which caused weight gain) and now I had a hysterectomy (because of the complications of tamoxifen) ~ This has been an uphill climb....

Of course, I will take ownership of the fact that I have been eating emotionally dealing with all of these losses ~ Oh... did I mention I work full time and I am in grad school full time? ::::sighs:::

Anyway -- I come to this team trying to find people like me who have been successful ~ so that I might have some hope! And to help and be helped in the motivation/accountability department!

Thanks for reading!
Dee

It is not enough to simply show up. You need to step up for results.... keep on stepping! Dee
