I am in the same boat. I simply cannot get the motivation to exercise. I have a tread mill upstairs with dust on it.

In the beginning, my motivation to exercise was a program at the gym I joined. You had to go 3 times a week, do a certain number of things &/or spend a certain amount of time exercising, have an employee verify it and after 12 weeks, there was a big "graduation' party and you got a certificate & a t-shirt. I WANTED that certificate. LOL I have no idea why, but I really, really wanted it. And I got it!

During those 12 weeks, my total, extreme hatred of any form of exercise turned into a love of exercise. I learned that my body actually likes to move, I learned to love running (a total miracle! LOL) I learned that my PMS symptoms were non-existent when I exercise regularly, I learned that I can do SO much more than I ever thought, I learned that sweating in public is not the end of the world & most importantly, I learned that making a complete fool of myself in public will not kill me. Surviving the embarrassment of falling off various pieces of equipment, falling up & down the stairs, sitting on equipment backwards.... was Such a confidence booster for me.

What motivates me now, 2 years later is my love of running and the realization that I feel SO much better, both mentally & physically, when I exercise.

Wow. Sorry this turned into a blog. :)

This first step is a good one. I just look for opportunities to move. I work in an office and find that most of the day is spent in a chair. So...I do seated leg lifts when sitting (sometimes several hundred a day). When I am at the copier I march or do squats etc. Just finding those little moments to move have made big changes for me. If I can do it so can you! Once you start seeing the results you will want to keep going and start adding more in.

Hi & welcome to our team. The best motivation I have to exercise is that it is a great STRESS reliever! No matter how crazy it gets at work, I take a walk as soon as I get home and then I feel so much better! I wish you much success with your weight loss journey. Good luck!

I gained weight a few years ago when I was stressed at work...I was not eating well or exercising.

At this point in my life though I honestly do not eat badly (I use portion control, healthy foods, and am not a sweets eater) and have maintained my same weight for a few years now... I am happy with my life but I am not comfortable in my skin. I want to lose weight. I need the motivation to exercise. I need to make the life change to include exercise in my life everyday and actually like it! :)
