Hi everyone :)

I'm Sara - I'll be 44 next month. I was browsing for a team just like this one, and a Fall challenge just like yours, too!

I lost 15 lbs from Feb. thru early summer, (about 5 short of goal), and have gained about 6 back in July/Aug. I basically want to lose enough to keep me at/below goal, with some fluctuation right around goal.

My personal challenge was 9 lbs in 9 weeks, starting 09-09-09. It also lands on 11-11. haha.

I am a part of the I Hate Excercise team, but they TOTALLY helped me get consistent with excercise, in May & June. I was walking 40 mins. about 5 days a week!! That is incredible for me. Time to get back to that routine again, and also start tracking my food again!!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK, EVERYONE! I'm gonna go browse through your topics/posts.

Hello. I joined SP in June and have lost about 20 pounds. I have about 10 more to go. With all that I've done and learned this summer, I think 40 something is pretty great.

Yes, you can!

Hi KATALEEN1 and welcome to the team! We sound alike. Eating is my problem too, and I love to workout. Good thing I like to exercise or I'd have more than ten pounds to lose! Glad you joined us!

Hi everyone, I found this website by accident and I really hope that it provides me the motivation to loose at least some of the recent weight gain I have experienced. emoticon

Unlike some of the others, I can't put this down to age - in my case it's definitely due to the cakes, chocolate, deserts and naughty savouries I have been putting in my mouth recently - I hang my head in shame... emoticon

Just turned 49, well not really, back in March. Even though I have managed to keep my weight somewhat controlled. I know that I am not physically fit. That's my big goal for turning 50 to be, a "f"physically fit, fabulous fifty. My time has been limited with working full time, two boys age 10 and 8 ( I started late!). I realize, health is important...so here I go...

Hi new members! I've sure missed a lot going on in this thread!

I had a good chuckle over the AARP comment. I've started getting mail from them and I just turned 44. Must have me mixed up with my husband, who is closer to being eligible to join!

Have a healthy day, all!

Don't be scared RJ, it's really not that bad!
Laurie, AARP is behind the times, we are so much younger than previous generations! LOL! And we will be especially fabulous when we are down to our goal weights and maintaining! Yeah, it did take a few months for me to lose what I've lost and I'm still working on the last couple... but here I am now and I feel great!

Hello. I'm Laurie. I am 48 and live in Baltimore. It is fabulous becoming "over the hill" as the name of this team implies. But it certainly doesn't feel that way especially when you consider yourself becoming old enough to join AARP. When you have ten pounds to lose it isn't fabulous either! The last ten are the hardest to lose and it seems the longest to lose.

Hello everyone....

Fab 40's huh? Well I'm gonna be the big 50 on 9/10 and its just been this past year that I've had trouble with my weight :( I'm not over over weight, but I am not happy :( so I stumbled across this site looking for a calorie counting chart and woo hoo I'm here now... wish me luck cause I actually scared to death, but mainly cause I never had to watch what I eat and now I do :( ahhhhhhhhhhhh this is actually scary :(

I definitely started having problems losing weight once I hit my 40's also. I think, for me it was perimenopause... I actually looked back at my log of exercise and exactly what I'd eaten when I was on WW and lost 12 pounds (and exactly duplicated everything I had done before) but nothing happened. Anyway, the progress has been slow but the weight is coming off. So, good luck to you, you can do it.

So, 45 hit and so did the extra weight!!...I don't have a lot to lose, but the little bit that I do have is definitely putting a damper on how I feel about myself. Who else here has never had a problem with weight until the 40's hit? So very frustrating!!! anyway, trying to keep my chins up and have a positive attitude, this dieting, or lifestyle change is hard...but i know will be worth it in the end...glad to be here!!!

Hello Fab 40's sparkies emoticon

Yup, I love being in my 40's, and I want to love it more by being a healthier weight so my joints don't bother me as much, so I can do the active things I use to do, in fact I hope to make my 40's better than any other year health wise.

Although not new to sparks, I joined a year ago, I am new to this team, and I have not been on sparks for the last 6 months so I am glad to be back and trying to get the motivation to get it together to really get down to business and get on with getting healthier and stronger each day.

Good morning! Thanks for the friendly welcome! Like you Susan, my husband and I don't have children (but we do have 2 labbies and 2 cats). I am new to SparkPeople and Fab 40's. There is a lot to this site and it seems it has to be taken in a little at a time. Not overwhelming though.

Have a good day.

I know it is gonna be a tough ride but I am up for the challenge. I was at my heaviest 245 lbs. And at my lowest was 121. So i would really like to get that last 10 - 15 pounds off again.

Hi Fab 40s,
I'm hoping to shed this 7 lbs that have been dogging me for around 6-8 months now. I'm trying sparkpeople because I'm extremely frustrated with the results with my home routine and hoping I can find some motivation and accountability with my diet so that I can get some results. I do spin class 2-4x a week, which I've been doing for several months - despite the intensity of it - I only seem to loose pounds when I'm dieting. I also lift weights 2x per week. I train hard and I've been fit all of my life, so this has been demoralizing. I'm guessing the metabolism is snail slow at my age - 46 and it's going to take incredible discipline to succeed.

Thanks for reading!
