Hi, y'all. My name is Jen, and my story, lots of pics and blogs are on my page. I specifically joined this team because I heard there was a challenge/competition starting, but I'm not sure where to go or what to do? I'm looking for a team thing if I can get it. Anyone?

Thanks. emoticon

Hey another Kelly, I'm a Kelly too. I find what helps me the most is to post often, say hi and get to know the people on the team. I post something everyday. I also like to use the huddle on the team page and I love the trackers. Well okay I love / hate the trackers. The trackers (food, weight, and exercise) are great tools for helping you recognize where you really are. Mistakes are fine, we just gotta keep trying and eventually we'll be old pro's at this. Hope to see a lot of posts from you so I can watch your journey and cheer you on. See you around Kelly! ~Kelly

Howdy peeps... I'm Kelly & am brand spankin' new to sparkpeople. I'm a divorced Mama to an awesome son... which is probably my BIGGEST reason to want to lose weight. I want/NEED to lose weight & be healthy to be HERE for my son.

For me, I want to lose weight so that my breathing isn't wheezing... so that my feet and cankles aren't so swollen that I can barely fit into any of my shoes... so that my legs and back don't ache just to walk the dog... so that I can stop FREAKING out & running to WebMD because I'm convinced that my weight is causing all sorts of illnesses to run rampant through me... and honestly, I want to lose weight so I can hold my head up again.

I've realized that recently... I walk with my head down almost all.the.time. And forget about walking past an attractive guy- I don't even feel WORTHY enough to hold my head up and (GASP) make eye contact.

I want to stop sabotaging myself and start feeling DESERVING of being my best self. Wow, if you knew me, you'd be surprised that I feel this way. On the outside, I'm the quirky Mama with the crazy antics & self-deprecating sense of humor. Well, you might be able to figure it out by the self-deprecating part. Probably most of us make fun of the things that hurt us the most. Maybe I'm not fooling anyone then... only myself.

Well, this introduction has turned into the 1st chapter of a memoir.. so I'll just say, THANK YOU for being here and giving me inspiration to start my journey. emoticon

Yup, that's me in the pic.. ya' know, with my super cute kiddo? No, no.. I'm the one in the brown & black.. NOT white & black!

So besides the myriad of other reasons... I want to lose weight so I don't have to distinguish between me & Shamu.

Hi everyone! I am a 31 yr old mother of 3. 1 boy age 10, and 2 girls ages 8 and 2. I have been a SAHM since my son was born almost 11 years ago. I have 100 lbs to lose in order to be at my goal weight. Like a lot of people I started to gain weight after I got married and just let it get out of hand. I've never been what you would call "skinny", my bottom has always been too big for that. Even as a teenager I was the epitome of "pear shaped". However I was at a healthy weight for my height and body type. After 12 1/2 years of marriage, 3 kids and multiple years of Depo and Mirena, it is time to change my life and get back to being a healthier, hotter me. Hoping that SP helps me to achieve my goal.

Hello! I am a 32 year old mother of 5. I have actually been overweight most of my life, as is most of my family. AFter having my 5 month old daughter, I weigh the most I ever have at 270. It is crazy to think back to 12 years ago when I thought that going over 200 would be the end of the world! Since then there have been some health and medications issues that have helped me pack on the pounds, along with going from a very active life in Oregon to a very sedentary life in Texas(too hot to be outside - at least that has been the excuse.) Anyway, I don't remember trying to seriously lose weight before, so this is going to be a new start. I figure that if I could get to 160 it would be great. I weighed 165 at the end of high school, and I think that that is a reasonable goal. :)

Hi! Just another newbie here, I just joined tonight.

My name is Rebecca, I'm 38 years old, and have a little over 200 lbs to lose.

I've struggled with my weight since I was about 10 years old, but in the past 8 years since I got married I've gained over 100 lbs. I'm sick of being fat, sick of my joints and back hurting so bad that I can barely move, sick of looking the way I do. I've had several "wake up calls" recently, and have decided that I have got to do something or I probably won't make it to my 40th birthday. I quit smoking cold turkey 18 months ago, and if I can do that...I know I can do this!

Looking forward to meeting you and finding a support system of people who know firsthand how hard this is and who want to encourage each other through this journey!

~Rebecca

Hello everyone. I'm new to the team. I've been a member of SparkPeople for six years. Like many people I would lose a little, gain and then go back to an unhealthy lifestyle because I felt discouraged and defeated. The cycle repeated itself over and over. In May of this year I was at the heaviest I've ever been. It hit me like a hammer when I realized I had over 100 lbs to lose. Since then I've lost 6.2 lbs. I'm hoping to continue my streak of losing.

Hello everybody! Been on Spark for 2 weeks and am happy to be a member of both spark people and this team. I started with 126 pounds to loose and have already lost 8. Can't wait to get into the challenges and drop this weight off. My story and info are on my sparkpage and my blog. Anything else you want to know just ask. Im a pretty easy going guy.

Marie you have come to the right place! My advice is to check in everyday. It is so easy to just stop, but find someone who you have to check in with (an accountability partner) and don't let them or yourself down. We all want you to succeed and be in your son's life a long time- So post often! Tell us what you are doing, use the tools on the site! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! ~Kelly

Hi Dene' I'm on the fence too about nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. (I will have to wait until I'm thin to make a qualified judgment on that!) Welcome to the team, post often and remind yourself that you are learning new life skills and it's gonna take some time to get used to them and you probably will make mistakes, and 1) That's okay and 2) I have yet to see a person who hasn't made a few. As I wrote in another post we've got our boats pointed in the right direction, we just need to learn how to use the ores. Post often so we can cheer you on!

Hi Leslie, WOW what a challenge! I am glad you've gotten help from your doctor! I have the opposite problem I need to keep my blood sugar up but I actually found that it is better just to keep it steady through out the day with out big spikes so that means eating more often for me. I actually use the Diabetes plan (which I don't have, they too are Hyper-glycemic but use meds like insulin to lower their blood sugar) I am Hypoglycemic so my blood sugar is often too low naturally. I have to use food to raise my blood sugar and try not to eat too many carbs which I love! Anyway welcome to the team and I am looking forward to seeing your journey and cheering you on!! ~Kelly

Hello everyone! My name is Marie and I am 35 with 115 pounds to lose. I have been on the rollercoaster of trying to lose weight since high school. Now I have to hold myself accountable for my bad eating habits, my inactivity, and lack of motivation. I know it sounds like I am being hard on myself but I have to be now more than ever. The weight I have put on over the years is now affecting my health. I have high blood pressure, arthritis, deterioration of the disks in my back along with many at risk factors. I want my 15 year old to have me in his life for many years to come. I always start out with the best of intentions but have this tendency to give up when I don't see the results right away. I have a long way to go so I am hoping that setting mini goals and having a support system will help. I look forward to meeting all of you soon. :)

Hi, Dene' here. I just turned 32 on the 4th. I contemplate losing weight quite often. Mostly it's "Well, I hope I'm not this size this time next year." I always start out with good intentions. But I'm a perfectionist and if things aren't just so, I usually give up before I even start. So, I'm seeing a therapist now, and he's given me some good advice. Except for the part about nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. I'm stuck on the fence with that one.

Hi everybody. My name is Leslie and I'll be 32 next week. I've gained 120lbs since the birth of my son 11 years ago and just found out the weight was do to a prolactinoma on my pituitary gland. This caused my body to store fat and dissolve my muscles into sugar. I currently am being treated for this problem (actually start my medication tomorrow) and was told by my doctor to work on lowering my blood sugar and lose at least 100lbs. So, here I am :)

Good morning everyone! My name is Amanda, I've been on spark almost a week now. I'll be 30 on Saturday, so I hope you don't kick me out until then! :) I'm working on losing somewhere in the ballpark of 130 pounds. (I'll figure out for sure when I get down there.) I have two kids, a 4 year old and an 18 month old. I'm a stay-at-home Mom and my hubs is in the Navy currently. We'll be moving back home in a few months though, so whee.

I joined in January. I half set up my page and then decided I didn't need this to get what I needed. I gained 10 lbs between then and now (which was all on my honeymoon). Which tells me I can't do it on my own. I am very competitive, so I need challenges that keep me motivated. I remembered SP last night and decided to regroup with it this morning. I have been exercising regularly the last few weeks, but usually 2-3 weeks into my goals I get bored. That's why I am looking forward to the challenges I can find here. Cant wait to get to know all of you!

This is my second time around. Lost some weight before and kept it mostly off... but still need to cut myself in half (no not like with a saw or something !).

I have to give in to the mathematical facts about weight and learn to consume less calories than I burn. If only it were as easy as spending more than you make !

Anyhow. I am at the end of the rope. I can't keep waiting for serious health issues to find me to take action - so let's do this !

Hello, I am Kelly don't let my user name fool you- (the user name I wanted was already being used). I actually joined in 2009. I think I checked in once and stopped, at the time I was going to the gym and so I thought I didn't really need the spark team. Then I stopped going to the gym, then there was buying the house, and remodeling it (which I'm still doing). But one day I was hiking on my brothers property and I had a hypoglycemic reaction and almost lost conscience. Luckily I realized something was wrong and told my companions, one of whom went for help. I was a little scared and surprised. I'm not diabetic, my Father had type 1, so I would get tested and checked every once in awhile. I also saw my Dad have diabetic comas and horrible reactions due to having too much insulin causing low blood sugar. Eventually he passed away (at age 41). So I realize I really need to make some changes and I really need help.
Remodeling my house for me will be like a metaphor, I would pick one small project to work on for that day and I would try to get that small step done. Today, I'm gonna paint. As far as my fitness goes today I'm gonna take a short hike in the woods behind my house. I am looking forward to meeting all of you ~Kelly

Hey everyone! I "think" I introduced myself before but I got into too many sparkteams and lost track of everything. So here I am back again.

I am a high school math teacher currently on summer break. I am looking to lose just over 150 pounds total. I've lost the first 50 since January 4th thanks to sparkpeople but I've hit a plateau for the last 3 weeks.

Hi Everyone!
I've been on spark for about 2 years, but am just finally getting fed up enough to 'go hard' and actually lose some of this weight forever! I've been a major yo-yo dieter for a long time, and I'm definitely ready to quit that cycle! I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Hi Everyone! This is my first time joining Spark and am still trying to figure it out ... I have a lot of weight to lose but I am determined! I need to actually learn how to eat to provide my body nutrients and some of the recipes on here are awesome :-) I hope to be motivated and encouraged by others and hopefully be that to someone else. emoticon

Hello all! I'm here to keep motivated losing weight. I started out at 412 lbs. and lost over 20 lbs. this month. I'm doing a low carbohydrate diet/ no starches, processed sugars, or artificial sweeteners. I have back and feet issues, so my exercise regimen is limited to work right now. I hope to share my story with all of you and learn together from our triumphs and failures. Good luck everyone! emoticon

Hi All,
I'm a returning member. I joined SP and the 30somethings team back in 2009. I lost 30 lbs and then disappeared off in my hectic life somewhere. I've been on and off since but could never seem to take the time to keep up with the team. I've decided that I NEED this interaction and miss it tons. So here I am! The good news is that I managed to keep off the weight I'd lost originally (first time in my life that has happened!!) And I've lost another 15! I haven't been throwing my all into it and I'm ready to go after it again. Looking forward to getting back in the groove!

Hi everyone!

This is my first time on SparkPeople. I joined yesterday. My goal is a weight loss of 100 pounds, which seems like a really huge amount, but I'm focused and determined that I'll be able to do it this time. I'm giving myself a year to get it done. I think an average of two pounds a week is doable.

I'll be around checking out the other topics and forums in this group. I look forward to being a part of this team. I think being part of a team will make all the difference in losing weight and being motivated!

Hey there! I'm Leigh. I don't really have much to say as far as introductions go.

My stats: 33, ~130 lbs. to lose, WA State, single, no kids.

I'm new with this account, but not new to SparkPeople. Been here, done that. My weight never really ever seems to change much. I have been 260 - 280 lbs for many years now amd am looking forward to losing enough to at least break my crazy barrier weight fluctuations. My motivation is high this time and I am not going it alone as I have in the past, so hopefully I can stick with it.

Can't wait to see how everyones journey goes along out healthier paths. I'll be sending everyone good vibes.

This is my second or third time around on Sparkpeople also. I am going to try using this site in addition to W.W. I cannot afford the web site for them and I love to do my own baking so this will have to give me the values right? Anyway we are here and that is the first step, apparently the second step is DOING the program. I am willing to try just about anything at this point. Best of choices for the new you. emoticon

Hello everyone! My name is Tausha, I just turned 30 this past March. I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I topped out at 308 a few years ago and knew that something had to change. After a lot of hard work, I lost 45lbs. I had a set back last year, and discovered I now have a few cardiac issues. Since then, I found 32 of those pounds. My ultimate goal is to lose a total of 125 lbs.

I feel like it is time for me. It is now or never. I have to take care of myself for my future and the future of my family. I hope to find friends on here to help keep me motivated and maybe even help motivate others along the way. I want to have a positive influence on the people around me and set a strong example for my friends and family. It is easy to get lost along the way and let things go by the wayside. I am now ready to work for this and for myself.

Here's to the success and courage we all need along the way! emoticon

Hi all!

I'm new to this group but not to spark. Anyhow, I am so off the wagon! It's been since February that I have lost any weight and in fact I have gained a fluctuating 10-13 lbs. This is ridiculous to me! So I am coming back to Spark and a new team for some support! I need it bad. Tomorrow I get certified to teach Zumba. I love it and am scared to death. I want to be confident in front of a class. I lost 40lbs last year and I thought that was impossible but I did it and I'm leaving this next 100 in the dust too.

Hi Everyone, My name is Kathleen, and I am 32 and have about 150 more lbs or so to lose. I have been doing weight watchers since February 2011 and have lost 50lbs during that time. I have been maintaining up and down a little bit since July 2011 at the same weight because I kind of fell off the wagon during the holidays. I am definitely back on the wagon, but still struggling. I have still been going to Weight Watchers, but its expensive and I am considering changing to this forum, but I am not sure about it since there are no meetings. Has anyone had any experience with switching over from Weight Watchers to this program? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi everyone. My name is Mindy. I am not quite a 30 something yet, I guess. I will be turning 30 in August so this group seemed more appropriate for me.

This isn't my first time using Sparkpeople, I have created a couple accounts before and then forgotten about them. I never really got too far into using everything the site has to offer. I decided to start fresh again with a new profile and new determination and I really want to stick to it this time.

I am open and welcoming to any new friends and I would love to find someone on here who will motivate me and who I can provide motivation to as well. So add me as a friend. Send me a message. :)
