Hi I name is Sherry, I am 31 years old and 304lbs. After over 10 years of being obese I have decided that I will no longer make excuses to why I can't exercise and eat healthy. I am ready for this change and ready to be fit again. When I was younger I was fit, but I have truly let myself go. I want to look sexy for my husband and be a role model for my children. I want them to know that being healthy is not all about a diet, it is about eating right and being active. I hope to not only gain support here on the forums, but be of support to others. Good Luck everyone!

Hi Team! My name is Alena I'm a 31 year old mom of 5. Weighing in over 300 pounds. I'm ready to get serious about my health and mentally ready to to discipline myself to do what needs to be done to become healthier. I'm thankful that 2010 is almost over the most valuable thing I learned is that its imperative to be obedient and to practice self discipline over your body. To not give in and give your body everything it wants but to give it what you know it needs. I'm aware of what I've been doing wrong, the wrong way I've been eating and the lack of exercise. I'm blessed to be in good health (in the sense that I have no disabilities) and I'm going to start getting up and get moving! Looking forward to the New Year ahead. Losing weight, getting healthier, looking better, feeling better & making new friends! WE Can Do IT!

Hi my name is Tina. I'm a 31 year old mother of two and have been married almost 12 years. My oldest daughter is starting to have weight problems and its my fault. I have to change for her first and me second. I have a great husband who supports me in all things in life I just got to get motivated! I look forward to chatting with you all and best wishes! Anna Stay strong you can do this!

Hi, my name is Anna, I am turning 32 in January and i had a nasty realization when i weighed myself at my little girls 1 year well baby check up. I weighed 343 pounds! When i had my daughter i weighed 286. So in a year i have packed on almost 60 pounds. I am ashamed and i decided i needed to make a change. I have started counting calories, measuring my food and becoming more active. Since december 6th i have lost 5 pounds. My son got dance party 2 for the WII for christmas and i like that game. I have played it twice since he got it. I wonder if that counts as exercise? I am here because i need lots of encouragement because i will not be recieving it from my husband. He doesn't support my decision to get to 150 pounds. He is almost 400 pounds himself, but he claims to be happy. I'm not happy with my weight. I want to feel good about myself, not ashamed. Looking forward to achieving my goals and helping people in any way i can.

Hi everyone. My name is Jennifer and I am 30 years old. I am married for almost 10 years now to a wonderful husband and both of us have weight issues we just can't get a hold of right now.
I have had asthma since I was a kid and it never really bothered me until this month. I live in Galveston, TX. and the weather here has just been up and down and it has me very sick. I usually don't have to use my inhaler and my oxygen would stay around 99 or 100 all the time. Now I am on 4 different med's, some 2x a day, and my oxygen is a steady 95 on a good day. Also, I have thyroid issues and PCOS so everything is just kind of screwed up with me so it is like even when I try the weight does not come off.
My husband is even more limited on what he can than myself. He was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension which is basically high blood pressure in your lungs and is having to take intravenous meds 24/7 just to make life somewhat functional. He has trouble walking to the bathroom some days and stairs are always a big chore for him.
I have been a member of Spark in the past, but just never really got into it. I am hoping this time I can actually relate to some people and be able to have the motivation to stick with it. As soon I am cleared from the Dr. we plan to start walking around the block once a day and build our stamina back up together. We also have the Wii Fit Plus and will be going back to using that to help keep track of weight and goals. Thanks for reading this novel and I hope everyone has a merry Christmas.

Hi,

I am a 36 year old woman from Baltimore - married no human children but I have five furry kids (three dogs, two cats).

I started my journey at 314.5 pounds and am now down to 295 so I am happy about that! My main problems is that I am ALWAYS hungry. I love to eat and I had thought my hunger pangs would go away after almost two months but no such luck!

I try to eat constantly but choosing healthy foods and snacks - keeping within my daily calories except for the occasional off day.

I am struggling because of all the holiday food around me. I think I just hit a plateau too because my weight loss stalled last week (not time to weigh myself yet this week). Everytime I have lost weight in the past, I can lose like 20-30 pounds and then if there is any more loss then it is pound once a month or so gone.

I have a slow thyroid, pre-diabetes and various other issues. I know my metabolism is very slow and I have been doing what I can to speed it up. I am very short and stocky - 5 foot 2 and three quarters but I have shoulders like a football player!

I am a bookworm, self-professed nerd so sports and physical fitness have never been my forte BUT I am now into doing Zumba classes and have tried several other classes at the community fitness place I go to. I am beginning to like the feeling exercise gives me but I keep having up and down periods where I feel motivated and others when I don't. Like, for example, last weekend all I could do was sleep. I was SO TIRED. Nothing was wrong emotionally - everything is okay on that end so I know its not depression but do all of you go through periods like this? Do you just get back on the horse and exercise again?

I would love some Spark friends who are in it for the long haul like me! I think any extra support and motivation I can get would be greatly appreciated!

Becky

Technically I'm not 30 yet, but I will be turning 30 in 2011 and this weightloss thing is a long term goal for me.... and frankly at 29, with 3 kids and grownup responsibilities, I just don't have that much in common with the people in the 20-something group anymore.

My name is Shining. I live in central Virginia with my husband and 3 kids. I lost 70lbs with sparkpeople, then had a baby and am starting out from scratch all over again.

Eat to live, don't live to eat!

Hello. My name is Ruth.I am 31 years old and desperately need to lose around 145 pounds.
I suffer from PCOD which, helps you pack the pounds on and makes it even more difficult to shake the pounds off. For years my mantra was, " I cant lose weight with PCOD I am not even gonna try. When I do I lose eight pounds and gain 20 back. Why bother?"
I have now changed my mantra to " I am going to lose the weight. If I dont it will kill me."
In my effort to lose the weight I have joined a weight loss program that is specifically designed to work for people with PCOD. I have lost six pounds in two weeks and a few inches.( I am not sure how many yet, I just know my clothes are fitting a lot looser!)
I hope to hear from any and all of you. I joined this group to connect with people who struggle with more than just a few pounds of weight. Lets get motivated! emoticon

Hi I'm Melissa, I actually joined spark 2 years ago when I was 60lbs lighter, with great intentions that last all of I think a week. This time I have decided it's time I start working on myself to feel better about myself. I come from a family of over weight people who's idea of exercise, comfort, bonding, love is food. In need of help and motivation so I don't give up once my body starts hurting.

Hi, I'm Nicole. I've been a member of sparkpeople for a couple years now. I lost 50 pounds, then gained it all back - and then some. When I hit a new "highest weight ever", I signed up for a new spark account so that I could have a fresh start. That was months ago, and I'm still at the same weight. I just can't seem to get myself started.

I actually joined this team in September, when I first decided to open my new spark account, but I never posted anything. I'm not sure what my lack of motivation is...

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Tania and I am a 37 year old married mom of two great (sometimes crazy kids). I live in London, Ontario Canada and I'm a special education teacher as well as run my own business.

Needless to say my life has been incredibly hectic which has led to some bad lifestyle choices. I started my weight loss journey at 275 pounds on October 1, 2010. I've been avoiding starchy foods like potatoes, breads and pastas and am concentrating on eating more veggies and lean meats. I have also started taking PGX which I found has been a HUGE help with controlling blood sugars and my cravings!

I look forward to getting to know many of you. Have just joined today so am looking to make some supportive friends who I can help as well.

Have a great weekend!

Tania

Not new per se. I was classact911

I restarted with a new name and would like to be readded to the purple team.

I decided to completely restart because I needed a new beginning with a fresh outlook. I had friends that weren't active on the sight anymore and I wanted to start with a clean slate.

I have decided next year is the year the rest of this weight comes off. I have 130lbs to lose. I've been dropping 4lbs a week for the last couple of weeks. My goal is to lose 2.5lbs per a week to get to that 130lbs of weight loss.

I have started to daily track my calories, something I was slacking on. I will be starting this week to add the water to my changes for the new year.

I am here again and I will be here this year. This week I also start adding activity to my daily day. Even if i have to walk up and down stairs for that 10 minutes a day of activity I'll do it.

I'm sick of being in the 200s it's time to see the Onderland! 2011 Is the year it happens.

Who's with me!?

Hi everyone :) My name is Heidi, and I live in PA. I weigh 275 lbs and I am only 5'1". I am so tired of being over weight. I have tried different diets, all to no avail. I am going to be getting the Roux-en-Y surgery done sometime next year. I am having a hard time staying motivated and keeping myself on track to lose enough weight to be able to have the surgery done. I have tried on my own, but I start to slack, make excuses, and just don't do what I need to do. I Joined this site hoping that I could make a few friends that are more understanding of what I am going through. :)

Hello everyone. My name is Rae, I'm from Detroit, MI and I currently weigh 349.6 lbs, which is lighter the 365 I was stuck at for about a year, but is still way too much for me to be carrying around for the rest of my (hopefully long) life. I decided to join Sparkpeople after watching an infomercial for the 6 week body makeover and looking that up in Yahoo Answers. Someone there posted that this site offers the same concept, but its free. I have done Atkins, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem and the 3 day diet and while all of them worked, none of them were realistic. I am looking for a plan that I can incorporate into my whole family's life, including my 14 y/o son. I have about 180 lbs to lose and that number scares me, but I know it can be done. I look forward to talking to everyone. Peace

Hi! My name is Patti and I'm 34. Every year I promise myself I won't get bigger, but I do. My problem is simple... I'm lazy. I don't eat a lot, but I don't eat healthily either. Another problem. Most of my meals are from fast food. I'm at this weird point where I'm disgusted with my body, but not really motivated to do something about it. My hope is that Spark People, this forum, and consistent food journaling will get my rear in gear.

Hi All- I am new to this group, but not new to SparkPeople. I actually joined when I was in my 20s, so I left that group to join this one when I realized... wait I'm almost 32 now!

I'm finally getting on that weight loss path that I've been trying to remain on for awhile. I joined a gym recently, I am hiking as often as I can, I'm doing Zumba, circuit training and a class called body flow that is a combination of yoga, pilates and tai-chi.

Some things are difficult right now because of a problem I am having with my foot. I still push through, but sometimes the pain makes it hard to focus on what I am doing. Still going to keep on pushing on.

Hi. I'm cheating. I'm 29, but will turn 30 in May, so can I sit at you guys' table?

I'm Molly, 29.5, 260lbs, single mother of a 3rd grade boy. I work full time as a billing clerk, go to school full-time as a secondary education student. No man to deal with at the moment, which is almost a relief. I'm active in church activities, my son's Cub Scout stuff, I love to read and take pictures, cook and play the viola and read. And sleep.

I'm starting c25k this week, and hoping to complete my first 5k in March. Preferably without dying.

Hiya

Another new person here. Im Julie. Im 31 and a stay at home mom to 3 kiddos. I have about 100-120 pounds to loose. Whew!
Ive struggled with my weight all my life but was active enough to keep it in check. When I had kids and especially when I decided to stay at home with them, the in-activeness did me in.
Im at the point where Im not feeling healthy. My bulge is also not staying put anymore. Darn 30s! So, its time to do this once and for all. Im more motivated this time than I have been in the past. Lets do it!

Hello,

I'm so happy that I stumbled across this website today. I've had a constant battle with my weight since I can remember and I've been noticing that I've lost hope in myself that I can actually lose weight and I think that others in my life have too ... not that I blame them, the past is the best predictor of the future, but it is nice to have a new start with people that understand!

I'm 37 yrs old, married to a great guy, no kids and I have about 150 lbs to lose.

Hello,

I'm steelmag9. I'm 35 years old and I weigh 265 pounds. I have been struggling with my weight for at least 15 yrs and this is the heaviest that I have been in my life. I want to lose at least 50 pounds to be comfortable with myself again and at least 100-120 to be healthy, get my doctor off my back, get off blood pressure pills and the high co-pays that go with them, and did I mention get my doctor off my back?

I work third shift, which makes it hard to get any kind of exercise in, because when I get home in the mornings, I'm too tired to do anything. I sleep like hell because I live in an apartment complex that's noisy and we're not allowed to put up shades, or blinds or anything else that wasn't already in place without paying a stiff fee.

I need some serious help and encouragement, because I am getting quite desperate. I tried to get weight-loss surgery, but my husband lost his job and the insurance that would have paid for it before I could get an approval.

So any ideas, suggestions, advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Hello, everyone! emoticon

My name is Anne Marie, I'll be 33 in a few days and I need to lose 72lbs to be happy with myself.. and 102lbs to be HEALTHY. I'm currently at 232 with a BMI just over 39.

I'm going to be starting Zumba tomorrow. I'm not sure I can get through the whole 60 minute basic workout yet, but I'm going to follow the suggested order of the plan and do as much as I can daily and build up.

I'm doing this for me, for my kids, and to expand my family. I'd like one more runt, but I need to get healthy for my body to cooperate with that. LOL!

Come on! We can do this!! emoticon

Hello from Indianapolis. I'm 33 yrs. old, married 11 yrs. to a wonderfully supportive husband. We do not have children due to my issues with PCOS. I'm also a full-time caregiver for my mother who has issues with weight and congestive heart failure, among other things.

I have lost weight in the past, partially through working in a lot of physically demanding warehouse jobs. I also lost quite a bit doing Richard Simmons workouts 5-6x week, but that was a few yrs. ago.

I'm ready to start doing something about the weight and infertility issues. With God's help, and support of family and friends, I know this is possible.

Hi, My name is Shannon. I have about 165 lbs. to lose total.
I have been married for 11 years, no kids, just a lil' angel (due to my weight and health issues). I started Spark People earlier this year but do to lack of support at home, temptation and depression I fell off the wagon. Finally have my husband on board and working out with me and I am getting back on.

Hi,

My name is Lisa and I have over 100 lbs to lose - not quite sure how I got to this point without stopping it earlier, but here I am. I have a wonderful husband and two amazing children. I have a great career, my husband owns his own business so financially things are pretty good, however I have such self hatred because of my weight and lack of discipline that I am robbing myself of the right to enjoy the great things in my life. I don't want to be the fat one anymore and I don't want to look at a flight of stairs the way a healthy person would look at a 50 ft. hike uphill. I want to make a change - for my kids, my husband, and myself. It is time to get rid of the excess baggage (both physically and emotionally). Thanks for reading!

Hi my name is Danny and I am 31 years old. I am 5'10" and weigh 488 pounds. Wow I know that is a big number, but hopefully with the motivation from you guys I hope to cut that number in half over the next year and a half to two years. I know it is possible because my Bible says " I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me". I look forward to talking and learning from you all. Keep up the good work and God bless.

Hi everyone. My name Heather and I've been with sp for two and a half months. I've been trying to lose weight since I was about 13 without any success. I was almost 350 lbs when I started and I've lost over 40 lbs. This is the first thing that's ever brought me any success and I'm excited to lose the remaining 140 (which I now believe is possible).
I have two awesome and very busy toddlers and a very skinny husband who is my biggest support and fan!
That's me! Looking forward to more freedom :)

emoticon Hi there!

I'm new to the site and just bought the book, both within the last week! I found the site last Sunday and went out and got the book the next day! I actually sat and read the first few chapters while sitting at Barnes & Noble, before I knew it 2 hours had flown by and I hadn't put it down!

My name is Jennifer... Jen or Jeny is fine too! I am 34 and live in the beautiful Pacific NW (Washington State). I am mother to wonderful twin 13 year old girls who are super active and I'd like to keep up with them!

I am 5'10" & 350 lbs. I would like to lose 160 lbs. over the next year and a half or so!

I look forward to all that I can learn here and all that I can share!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I'm from Grand Junction Colorado (over here on the western side of the state...) I have been on SP for a month and have been working on losing weight since Jan 2010. So far I have lost 48 pounds, 15 of that after I joined SP. I joined this group recently because I will be truing 30 on Nov 28th and for some reason it is hitting me big time.

My story....
I have been over weight almost all of my life, from about 3 on. But after I met my husband and had 2 kids I found myself at 347 on December 29th. I couldn't believe it, I had let myself get so big. We had a some of our really good friends over (that had both been over weight also) and they were looking so good, we got to talking and they told us that they had joined the gym and were really working on losing weight. I had been thinking about joining the gym but just wasn't sure that I would feel comfortable. After talking to them I knew I could do it. So on December 29th my husband and I joined the gym and started working out and counting calories. My husband fell off the wagon and never got back on but I have been slowly making progress ever since. I had a hard time through the summer, but after joining SP October 18th I have been going strong and loving every minute.

My name is Amy and I am in my mid-30's with more than 100 pounds to lose. I recently moved from KS to CO (where I am from originally). I work from home as a freelance graphic and web designer. I am happily married (over 10 years) and have 2 kids, daughter Andie, 17, and son Chris, 9.

Here's my story:
I haven't always been big and I can't really blame it on genetics (most of my family are much taller and in shape for the most part). Over the years I have made some bad choices and have not been the most active. For the last 3 years, I was working full time at an office during the day with co-workers who loved to go out to eat. I found that I have little willpower when it comes to restaurant food. At home, I make pretty good choices about what I buy and cook but not so much when I'm at a restaurant. I was also getting my bachelor's online at night. So my daily activity was almost none. We did have a membership to the YMCA and I was doing pretty well for a while but found that I had little time or energy after sitting for so many hours a day at the computer. After I got my bachelor's, we moved to CO near family and I now freelance from home so that I can have more flexibility for my kids.

At 200 pounds (3 years ago), I vowed that I wouldn't let it get any higher. And I tried. But then found myself at 220 and then at 250 which is where I am now (well, actually I am just about down to 240...YAY!!!). My ultimate goal is to get down to 120-130. Now that I work at home full time and we can't afford a gym (for now), I make myself either get out and walk a minimum of 3 times a week or I get on the treadmill (we bought one several years ago and it's just been a dust collector until now).

I am more determined than ever to get this weight off. I am making myself track my foods and my exercise and I really think it's helping to keep me motivated. I would love anyone who wants to be an e-buddy and help keep me going and I will do the same for you. I look forward to meeting some of you and hearing your stories.

Hello Everyone!

I am a 33 year old mom of a 13 year old son. I have been on Sparkpeople for a few months now and I think it is great! It is really helping me make better choices about what I eat as far as calories per day. I want to get this weight off in time for a family vacation next summer!!!! emoticon

Good luck to everyone in achieving your goals!!

Good morning 30 Somethings! My name is Liz and I live in Michigan, but grew up in Pennsylvania! I am a single-mom to a 12 year old girl with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Autism Spectrum Disorder). I am an LPN and working on my RN degree. So, yes, I am a very busy mama! But, I keep putting my personal health aside. I know that this is NOT an option any longer. I have a date goal of August 6th, 2011 but no specific amount I want to lose. I have a class reunion and it will be my first trip back to Pennsylvania since moving to MI this past August. I want to be more fit, feel healthier, set a good example for my daughter (who is also overweight) and, of course, give everyone that WOW factor when I show up! I look forward to participating in this group and plan to treat it just like my online classes. Log in daily and do my homework (journal and check in with my groups). Thanks all!

Hi my name is Julia.I have 2 beautiful children and am going to be divorced very soon.

I actually started on sparkpeople back in Feb. At that time I literally signed up and logged off. Since then I had gained 10 pounds. Last week I decided to stop complaining and really give it a try. In the last week I have lost 5 pounds. At first I was just looking at the pages and then decided to start using the nutrition tracker. I think I am becoming hooked emoticon . I am so excited to track my food and see how I'm doing for the day. I have yet to start exercising. I'm scared I'll get overwhelmed like I usually and give up yet again! So this time I've decided to take things a little slower. I am concentrating on getting my eating under control then I will focus on exercise. Smaller goals seem too work better for me because they don't seem so far out of reach.

Hi everyone! My name is Katie or Kate (depending on when/where you met me lol) and I live in North Carolina with my husband of 8 years, Ryan, and our two beautiful little girls (3 and 6). I turn 32 on November 26. I have been very successful in all my goals with the exception of weight loss. It's hard to believe that I need to lose over 100 lbs. Being this much over weight is starting to put a strain on my body. I also feel that my extra weight is negatively impacting my career.

I have been over weight all of my life and have tried just about everything. I am ready to make some much needed changes. Not only will living a healthy lifestyle help me to lose weight it will help me to show my children how to be healthy.

I am excited to start this new journey and am very pleased that I was able to find a group such as this with such encouraging and understanding team members.

I am 30 years old. I am a wife and a mother of 3 young children. I started my weight loss journey October 1st of 2010. I used a different website at first, but now I am here to see how this one works.

My original goal was to lose 125 pounds. Since October 1st I have lost almost 20 pounds. I still have a lot to go, but I am very excited for this journey and I am looking forward to my success!

I am looking for all of the support I can get. A great support system in my life is very important. I need it to be successful. I am a very bubbly, life of the party type person. I am always happy and having fun, I just need this weight loss for myself and my health. I hope to hear from some of you and create some new friendships from SP.

We must become the change we want to see.
