My user name translates to "I am here", which seemed appropriate for trying to lose weight. I find that being "here" (or, on the wagon) is at least 90% of the battle for me. When I stick to a plan- the weight melts off, and I always think "that was so easy! why did it take me so long?" This time, I am bound and determined to keep it off. I'm revisiting a book I bought in 2008, called "The Instinct Diet".

I'm just short of 2 weeks in and have lost justh shy of 5lbs. Not a bad start and this way of eating feels very sustainable to me. The only real will power I've found I need on this plan is to measure everything and plan ahead. Now that it's become a habit- it's pretty easy.

A little about me:

31. Live in the pacific north-west with my husband (of 9 years), my daughter (14), our great dane (Sally) and our tortoise (ToTo). I would like to lose somewhere between 15 and 25lbs. We'll see how things go. :)

I'm normally fairly active but sprained my ankle about 4 weeks ago and am still sidelined from my favorite activities. I've found that excercising a lot while I'm trying to lose weight is somewhat counter productive (it makes me so hungry!) so I'm ok with really solidifying my new way of eating before jumping back into any serious training.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

I am here to get in shape, and become a healthier me. (And lose 13lbs.)

My name is Chris, I'm in my 30's, and live in TN with my wife Amanda. I work nights, so it's impossible for me to have a "normal" eat/exercise/sleep schedule. With Sparkpeople I hope to figure out a plan that works for me.

Hi! I am 35 years old and I have been on a diet every other Monday for the last couple of years (Weight Watchers). Nevertheless, every year I ended up with two pounds more on the scale than the year before. I would "be good" from Monday to Friday, and by Saturday all my resolve was gone. I read "Master your metabolism" by Jillian Michaels over Thanksgiving (great time of the year to read something like that, lol) and I realized that in order to get rid of those 10 pounds I really have to make changes for good and I have to get of my butt.
I logged on to sparkspeople for the first time yesterday and I already think it is a great site. I am prepared this time and I want to get the most out of this journey - getting and staying fit and healthy and having fun with it. Looking forward to sharing and supporting with sparkpeople!

I cannot control the scale, but I can control my behaviour.

Hello everyone. I'm not exactly new to this group, but I can't remember if I ever posted when I first joined. I started out with good intentions, but never went anywhere. Now I am trying again and feeling more hopeful, I want to be more active! I would love support to help me stay motivated, a good kick in the butt when I start slacking!

Hello!
I am a working wife and a mom of two. I have been with Spark People for almost three years. Initially, I lost 22 lbs but became ill and needed to move less and change my diet. As a result, 5 lbs came back on. December 2011 has been so hectic that I haven't had much time for myself and gained 5 more lbs. I keep losing and gaining the same 10 lbs! It is time to get serious about those 10 stubborn pounds! I wish myself and all of you success with those 10 - 25 lbs!

Figured I would get on here and reply. Not too sure how good at this I'll be but it's worth a try. I'm a 32 year old mother of 4 wonderful kiddos and I'm looking to get in control of my health and weight before it spirals out of control. On top of that I'm going to be stopping my horrible smoking habit as well. Wish me luck!

Hi!! I'm a 31 year old mother of two (4 & 18mo). I work part-time. I love to workout but lack some serious motivation. I do well during race season but fall off the bandwagon soooo quickly in the fall. I like just about any race from a 5k - marathon. I completed 2 sprint tri's last summer and LOVED them!
I've had some terrible eating habits lately & it's showing. I need to get back to a normal workout routine & get this weight back where it belongs! 7lbs increase since Sept :( I think I'm a much better Mom & wife when I feel good about myself & right now I really don't. I look forward to the motivation from this board!!

Hi everybody. I did really well on Weight Watchers for a while, but then the budget got tighter and I had to choose between WW and my martial arts classes. I figured that since I already knew the program it would be better for me to keep up with the martial arts. I don't regret that decision, but since I was no longer going to meetings I eventually stopped following the program all together. Now, I'm just about back to where I started when I joined WW in the first place!

As of 12/24/11 I'm at 190 and I want to get down to 150 by 12/24/12 (my 35th birthday). That's 1-1.5 pounds per week, which should be doable.

Working Mom of two here, who needs to lose 10-15 lbs. 15 would make me so happy, but I feel like I'd have to never have another chocolate chip cookie to maintain it. I like food too much! :-p
I do well when I track my food and hopefully this will help me. I thought running after 2 little boys would be exercise enough, but alas, it is not. I need to get off the computer in the evenings and get active instead of sitting in front of the tv after the kids go to bed.

Linzstafflover & Emily1424, WELCOME! And don't be discouraged, just watch a few tutorials on how to use the site, and it gets super easy. It helped me just realize where I was going REALLY wrong on foods I ate, with the calorie tracker. It makes trying to be healthy really easy, and eventually makes you develop healthy habits. I love it! I've only been on here since October and it's helped me a ton!!! I feel a lot more organized with my goals and that helps me stay on track and not lose hope. Good luck with your journey!!!

Hi everyone!
I have been on and off spark for awhile. I have been active for the last six months, but I just decided to start jumping in to the community. At this point, I have lost 22 lbs, but I really need to go another 20. I am hoping the wisdom of the group can help with the body image issues. As you are loosing weight, what are you doing to keep a good perspective on your actual size?

Hello Everyone! I'm here to lose about 10 pounds and I'm really looking forward to becoming more consistent in my running and strength training. Super excited with my goals of drinking more water, posting my foods/exercises/etc... And can't wait to dive right in!

Hi, everyone! I've been a member of Spark for a few years, but went on a 1 1/2 year haitus and gained 38 lbs. I'm looking to lose those pounds and have lost 15 pounds since August, which puts me at 24.9 more lbs to lose (I was at 23 more lbs yesterday).

Current weight 164.9, goal weight 140.

Hi everyone!

Mom of two teenage daughters (12 and 16) living with my BF (together over a year now) and his two sons (5 and 9). Work full time in the aerospace industry as a Sales Mgr to a team of 30.

In HS I was extremely athletic and never had to worry about weight. Never worried about what I ate and ate whatever I wanted to.

Gained 60 lbs with my oldest child and 40 with the 2nd. It never went away!

I have MS and sometime struggle physically. But I don't struggle everyday so I refuse to use it as my excuse any longer!

I was 238 last year and am now 215. Two months ago I was 205 but had surgery and gained some back. Now I need to stop letting life get in the way and do this!

Hello all! I am a stay-at-home mom of a 7 year old boy and 4 year old girl. They keep me on my toes, especially my daughter.

I am not exactly new to sparkpeople but I am coming back after a long break! I am hoping to lose at least 20 more pounds. I had been doing really good but lately I find myself finishing the kids food instead of throwing it away and snacking whenever I get bored (which is often while the kids are at school). I have also started going back to school and because of that I am eating on the run more than I used to (hard to eat a salad while driving). I am hopeful that tracking what I eat and being held accountable will help get me back on the right track.

So today is day 1 for me and its not easy. I spend 9 years in the Air Force before I was in an IED explosion in 2005. Prior to that I was a health nut--always in the gym, working out, watched what I ate. Since then I have done nothing but gain weight. I was always a solid 145-150 lbs and now its more like 170-175. I used to run all the time but now I have 6 screws in my pelvis, 2 pins in my spine, and a spinal fusion up through L5. I dont' sleep with out meds but they also make me tired during the day. I used to love to work out but never have the energy anymore. I am involved with a great guy but his 4 kids really take a ton of time being 2, 4, 5, and 7. Their mother has little to no involvement. I need to start working out again--I feel better when I do--but I just can't find the motivation or th energy.

Hi all -

I'm new to SparkPeople. I would LOVE to lose 20 pounds of "baby weight." Now that my youngest "baby" is 3 years old - I figure it's about time to do something about the extra baggage I'm carrying around. Prior to having children, I was the girl that could eat anything, never exercise, and stay thin. NO LONGER! The idea of watching what I eat is really a struggle for me, so I hope to find a way to integrate both exercise and healthy eating into my life.

Hi, my name is Cheri and I have about 16lbs to lose but I am making small goals like 5lbs at a time right now because its a lot easier to concentrate on losing 5lbs than 16. I am 34 years old happily married with a 14 month old baby girl.

Hello, I have been a member of SP for a few years. Honestly, started and stopped a few too many times! But my last try I did loose a 30 lbs! and stopped. My life changed, got a new job and let it slide. I haven't gained it back, thank goodness... well I gained 5 lbs. So to avoid it all coming back, I am starting again. But from a mid point. Just got to loose the last bit.

I am Canadian living in Central America, Panama to be exact. I am a single mom of an 8 yr old girl.

Well, adios!

HI everyone! I've just moved into the 10-24 pounds to lose category after doing a bootcamp in September and getting started on the Fall 5% Challenge. I've lost nearly 70 pounds in the past year and a half and would like to lose about another 20, while shifting my focus to getting fitter and more toned (bootcamp really opened my eyes to what ST can do!). I lived in New York until I was 30 then moved to Venice, Italy where I've lived for the past five years (almost) with my husband and two cats. I'm really into cooking, reading classic literature, watching old films (ones from the early 30s are my favorites!) and traveling. I'm looking forward to meeting the other members of this team and blasting through the rest of my weight!

My name's Tina. I lost more than 90 pounds between March 2010 and March 2012 and have been keeping if off ever since. Had a baby at the end of April 2016 and am working to get back to my pre baby form, or at least as close to it as I realistically can!

Hey everyone! I am 36 married with a 2 yo little girl. Been doing weight watchers for the past year and lost 35 lbs and then gained back 11 over the summer when I was super busy at work. I heard about Sparkle through the message boards there when someone mentioned to someone about counting up their calories everyday here for better results. I tried it out and I am way under my minimum everyday by at least 200 - 300 calories. I think I will be using both sites now to see if I can make my weight loss more effective.

Hi all!
I'm a '30 something' (31 actually), mom of an 11 year old, wear multiple hats, and just need to start all over freshly brand new! Oh, and ~20 brand new lbs to lose. Still fit in most of my 'before' clothes, but oh wow, not a pretty sight. So better lose them for good coz shopping for bigger clothes in not part of my plans!

Cheers everyone!

Hi everyone

Glad to see there is a group for us people that just have a few kg's to loose. People seem to think it is easy because it isnt "serious" weight issues, but DAMMIT!!!! Loosing 5 kg's is probably just as hard as loosing 50! So here is cheers to all of us and may we achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves!

:-)

Of all the things I have lost I miss my metabolism the most!

Hello all,

I have been a Sparks member for several months but have not took full advantage of the site. I am in my mid 30's and my weight for the passed few months is steadily increasing. I am looking forward to loosing approximately 20 lbs. I finally have an exercise routine that I am committed to but my weakness is my eating habits. I love ice cream and sweets. I do not now when to stop. You can say I have a problem with portion control. I stopped buying ice cream but I am still having problems with sweets especially at work. Every where I turn there is candy and unhealthy snack food. I need help with staying motivated and learning lifetime eating habits. Hopefully this site can help.

Good Morning Everyone! I'm Abbey. I have lost 40 lbs since January 2010. It's slow going and the last 4-6 weeks I have stalled out. I have 21.6 lbs to go! I was hoping to hit that my goal weight by December 1, 2011. I sure hope I can do it!!!

Hi All! I'm 37 and my goal is to lose 15-17 lbs. I had my first child 15 months ago and was really happy that I returned to my pre-pregnancy weight but now I'm gaining again. I'm having a hard time balancing my eating and exercising. I hope to find great support within this group to help me make long lasting changes:) Thanks for having me!

Hi everyone, I'm Dianna. I'm trying to lose the last 10-15 lbs. after having my third beautiful daughter six months ago. My weakness is sugary treats. I've been pretty good lately about not snacking at night, and have been getting up early before work for strength training for the past three weeks. Need to get back to walking each evening, but after working all day, then dinner, then putting kids to bed, I'm pretty beat--and need to be in bed at a decent hour to get up early and start all over again! My main challenge now is to fit everything in to the day!
Glad to be here, be accountable, and get some inspiration from all of YOUR efforts!

I would like to lose my first 10-15 pounds before my 34th birthday. I hope that the support of this group can get me through these hard times. I think I introduced myself before, I am not sure. Hello all!!! I am looking forward to this journey and being a success :)

Hello everyone, well I am 33 and just starting to get back into the grove of things. My whole life up until 3.5 years ago I was very active and never had a problem with weight. My job takes alot out of me and I am on the road alot. I was also diagnosed with celiac disease in February of this year, which has made things even harder. My main problem is finding time to workout and eat. I never feel hungry. I know I need to eat but food to me is the last thing on my mind. What has really motivated me to begin working out again is that I am not happy with my health, the way my body is looking, and I really miss working out.

I am 5'8" 155 pounds and I want to get back to 135.

Hello, i'm getting married in 14 weeks and only need to lose about 10lbs now but it's been a real struggle. This time I haven't given up when the going has got tough. I have at least maintained my weight at around 12lbs below where I first began about 18 months ago. That in itself is a BIG achievement for me. With support of SparkPeople I feel re energised to get back on track and shift this weight once and for all.

Good luck to everyone!! We all know how difficult it is to get to the weight and fitness level you want to be at so let's support each other!! x

Hello all! I'm here to try to give myself that extra umph needed to loose some weight. I just returned to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave and need all the help I can get to maximize the little bit of "free" time I have left as a first time mom. I am so overwhelmed and I feel so unhealthy, tired, undesirable, and just plain grumpy. My daughter is gorgeous and healthy and deserves a healthy mother and role model.

Hi everyone! I'm Lisa and I am trying to lose about 15 or 20 pounds. My goal is to do it by 11/11/11 when I'm the maid of honour at my sister's wedding. She already picked my dress and it's a couple of sizes too small so that's some real motivation. At least it's sort of stretchy! lol

Goal: 145

I can't wait to get started and get to know all of you!
