I will just post here what a doctor told my husband last year that he had the same question. She told him that as we age our body burns less calories so if we just maintain the same eating style and same exercise style we gain about 4 pounds over 5 years or something like that I m not sure I remember the numbers correctly. Then she went on telling him that if he wants to be at 40 as he used to be when he was 35 he needs to exercise more (assuming he already eats healthy). Hope this helps. Is there any doctor or dietitian around here that can actually verify this?

Hi everyone! I have been trying to lose 10 pounds for over a year and simply can't seem to do it....so I thought that posting on this site might help :-) I am 40 years old and generally eat very healthy and exercise alot. I am not sure where the pounds came from!! Anyone have any tips for me?
