Hi, I am new to this team...I think....and I have 150 pounds to lose. I have actually lost 30+ pounds from my beginning weight of 385. My name is Red Hoffman (easily found on Facebook) and I live in retirement in Orlando, FL.

On March 9th of this year, I had the gastric sleeve surgery and am following the guidance of my surgeon, his staff and the dietitian as closely as I remember with my wife making sure I make no detours.

I was off SparkPeople for a couple of months, but now I am back. I hope there are some active members in this group. I need someone to share my journey with, who is on a journey of their own.

Message me here or on Facebook.

Thanks!

Well I am a little late to the page. This is my second and final attempt at spark and getting my weight under control. I say final not in a negative way because giving up on my goals I would be giving up on myself, My health, My happiness and more importantly my son. I've always been "fit" and active in my younger years but a bad relationship threw me into a depression and I gave up on life pretty much. I've been out of that relationship for 4 years and after some much needed soul searching I am finally getting back to me.

Hey everyone, my name is Sarah and I just recently joined SparkPeople for the *second* time. Obviously, things didn't work out the first time, but I'm really determined to make my goals happen this time around! In January of 2017, I reached my peak weight of 333lbs, and that's when I decided something needed to change. I was in college at the time, so I mainly focused on what I eating and starting to embrace food tracking. Now that I'm back home for the summer, I'm trying to go to the gym more and so far it's been paying off, slowly but surely. Today I'm at 310lbs but I still have a loooong way to go. My goal is to get under 200lbs, so I still have about 111lbs to go. It is definitely overwhelming at times, but I'm trying to break up that number into smaller, more reachable mini-goals (like 10lbs at a time).
My wake up call recently has been a mixture of borderline high blood pressure, insomnia, and back pain. Part of my motivation for losing weight is to help fix those pesky things! Another non-scale goal that I have is to be able to "comfortably" (I know that's an oxymoron) fit into an airplane seat so that I can finally explore my love of travel.
If anyone is looking for an accountability buddy, or just a friend in general, feel free to message me!

Hi everyone! My name is Adri, I'm 27 and I'm tired of feeling like crap. I maintain a healthy lifestyle for the most part, but the addition of binging and gaining pounds keeps me from feeling my best. My highest weight was 303, I'm down about 5 pounds. I set my goal at 150 but I tend to have a lot of muscle *under the flab lol* so I may settle at higher. I plan on it taking me a while, so I'm committing to being in this for the long haul.

We are what we repeatedly, excellence then is not an act but a habit.

Hey guys! My name is Marie and I am from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am 25 years old and weigh 282.2lbs. My goal is to loose 100lbs. I don't have a time limit, I just want to get there safely. I gained this extra 100lbs over the last 9 years and I want to be able to more with my life than just sit and play video games (although I'm never going to stop gaming!).

I want to wish everyone good luck in their journey. We're all fully capable of achieving our personal goals, whether they are related to health, family, or work. Keep your chin up!

Hi I'm Miranda

I'm 24 and living in Dallas. I'm a first year teacher and I just graduated from grad school in May. I gained so much weight during my undergrad- about 80 lbs- and I wasn't small to start with! I've held steady at about 280 the past two years and I want to commit to losing the weight for my future health. I'm finally feeling the weight- does that make sense? It physically hurts to stand for long periods of time! I feel like my BMI is catching up with me and physically holding back from things I want to do.

If you're on a similar journey I'd love to connect!

xoxo Miranda

Hi, I'm Kathrine

I'm 21 years old, and live in Aarhus, Denmark - where I study to become a doctor (hopefully! *crosses fingers*).

In an ideal world I would be about 110 pounds lighter (bear with me on the kg-pounds conversions, where I live we use the metric system :) ), and a helluva-lot fitter ;)

A couple of months ago I stumbled upon this blog: http://tippytoediet.com/
And even though it's been inactive for quite some time I fell in love with the author, and she inspired me to start doing something about my own situation (*grabs belly rolls and shakes them furiously*).

So here I am, trying to take charge over my own life.

I could really use some online-buddies to talk to, and to give me some tough love - when it's called for :)

Hello everyone!

I'm 28 years old, I'm the mother of 3 beautiful boys (7 yrs, 3 yrs, and 5 mos). I am a stay-at-home mother, I used to work in underwriting until I fell last year during a work event at the zoo (fun place to fall... lol). My fiance is a Banquet Sous Chef, but I'm the cook in the family. I think the only thing he's ever made for me have been hot dogs, eggs, and maybe hamburger helper.

I believe I presently weigh around 348 (I started my new lifestyle change back at the beginning of September, and haven't had a chance to be weighed since my last appointment on Sept 6, when I weighed 348). I'm 5'8. I've been heavy pretty much all of my life. I started dieting when I was 10 years old and over the past 18 years I've gained 697 lbs and I've lost 513 of it (the last I calculated), It's always been a roller coaster ride, but I've always been very good at putting on a facade and making others believe I was super confident and everything was peachy keen.

I struggled with anorexia from 10-20 years old and I have struggled with a compulsive eating disorder since I was 8. I'm presently in therapy and despite joining Sparkpeople years ago (2008) after having my first son, I never really did anything with it and just ignored my account.

So... here I am... I "ideally" have more than 200 lbs to lose to be at my ideal body weight, but I would like to personally weigh around 200 lbs. So, for me, my goal is a total of approx. 148 lbs to lose.

Over the last month, through some serious determination and through therapy I've been able to find a method of eating better that works for me. I do a form of modified portion control and use some methods to retrain my brain and my body to remember that I am satisfied and to identify the negative feelings ( both emotional and physical) that come with overeating.

My whole journey has been very long, but I'm glad that I've finally gotten to this point in my life... There is never a time better than today to begin preparing for tomorrow. I'm glad to be here and I wish everyone else a successful journey!

Hi I'm 27 and I really need to loose 135 pounds for the first time in my life I'm not just 'dieting' or putting myself through agony to loose weight... I'm on a healthy lifestyle.... Sp have really changed my perspective on weight loss that is how I know I'm gonna be successful at weight loss this time around... I'm no longer looking in the mirror and asking myself how did I allow things to get so out of control.... NO I'm loving the reflection I see in the mirror... loving that she knows that she made mistakes along the way however I'm proud of myself for not sitting on the couch anymore with food in hand complaining about being fat!! No I'm counting calories and getting my workout on.... When I realized I had 100 Plus pounds to loose I felt like it could not be done weight loss surgery was my best option but finding Sp and being in this group has given me Hope, Encouragement and Support which I am most grateful for......I wish everyone a Happy and Successful Weight Loss Journey

Hi, I'm Angela. I live in PA USA. I have been overweight since high school and even though i hate being overweight, i just never had the willpower to do anything about it. Or i would try and then give up after a few days. After stepping on the scale today, I realized i am 25pounds heavier than i thought and i was almost sick from disgust at how bad i have let myself get. Over the years i have even developed social anxiety because i am so self conscious of people looking at me. This needs to change for my own health and also so i can finally feel comfortable in my own skin.

Hello! I'm 29 and have about a million chronic illnesses that in combination with meds have caused me to gain a lot of weight. I've always been on the heavier side, but I promised myself I'd never go over 200 pounds. Well, I'm now 228 and up another shirt size (I don't even want to know how my jeans fit this fall, I've been wearing elastic waist shorts). I've been pretty much stuck on the couch or in bed because I get super lightheaded or pass out when standing. I finally got approved for both a wheelchair and a walker, so I'm hoping to slowly get more active. I'd love to have a recumbent bike or a rowing machine - something that would let me sit and exercise without passing out. But I'm on a bare minimum income so that will have to wait.

I was a member of Spark People a long time ago and lost some weight, but have obviously put it back on. I figured it would be a good place to start again this time. My goal is to lose at least 100 pounds.

Hi all-

I've resisted this for a while but I need to lose weight. I used to weight lift in high school so I think I'm going to go back to that lifestyle. Looking for friends who are aggressive about their goals.

Hi there! My name is Victoria. Im 24 years old and from the San Francisco Bay Area. Im a graduate of UC Berkeley and currently work in philanthropy. Im an avid reader, a reluctant Kindle user, and a lover of red wine.

This is my second time on SP after getting off track a couple of years ago. Luckily, I managed to maintain my weight this entire time, but now Im looking forward to losing it for good. Recently, Ive been able to embrace a more body-positive outlook on life by accepting and loving myself and my body as is. This simple act has made me even more motivated to lose weight and lead an active lifestyle. In March of this year, I ran/walked my first 5K with a time of 58:20. This had been one of my goals from my last time here. My goal now is to beat that time and Im already planning for my next race in October or November. So well see how that goes.

Happy to be here and meet you all!

Hi everybody!

My name's Sammee. I'm 25 with the goal of losing 105lbs. I'm hoping to get in shape for a variety of reasons: personal health, an interest in aerial arts, an upcoming engagement, all kinds of stuff like that. A couple of years ago I was losing weight pretty regularly, but fell off track when I switched jobs and caused my routine to be thrown off. I also gained all of the weight back--and then some--after that.

I've used Sparkpeople before with quite a bit of success, and I managed to meet some amazing people! I'm sure it will be a repeat experience and am looking forward to getting to know everybody!

Oh hi!

My name is Kat. I'm 26 and live somewhere in Arizona. I've been trying to loose any weight possible. I gained more weight trying to lose anything than I have ignoring it...plus the added amount from my pregnancy... Which is annoying and makes me lose any motivation.
Because I'm an introverted recluse, =D a buddy would be amazing. If anyone is looking for one, I'm happy to extend my hand. :)

Hi, everyone!

My name is Niki, I'm 23, I live in Northern Kentucky and I've been trying (and failing :-/) to lose weight for the last 6 years. I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy with my first son, going from 140 pounds to 250, and though I haven't gained much since then, I haven't really lost anything either.
I'm really hoping this works out for me this time around and I'm all set to do it on my own if I have to, but I know things are easier when you have someone to support you, so if anyone is looking for a buddie I'm here and willing. : )

Hi there :)
My name is Breannan, I am 27 years old and I live in Victoria Australia and have been trying to lose weight for a long time. I lost about 100lbs a few years ago but unfortunately I gained about 40lbs in the last year due to an injury. At the moment I am doing my very best to lose the weight so that I can start a family.
Currently not working, and having a hard time staying motivated. So I am here looking to get in touch with others like me and hopefully find some motivation.

Hello, my name is Dennisse and I am 26 years old. I live in San Antonio, TX with my wife and furbaby. I love my job but it is sedentary so I have gained more weight than ever. I started the year at 300 lbs, the highest I have ever been and am around 270. I have been seeing a dietician for the last five months and it does help but I need someone to keep me motivated and and keep me accountable!

If you are interested in being my buddy, add me and let me know! I need you as much as you need me :)

Hi there, I'm Alex. I'm 26 years old and living in NC with my hubby and our cat children. I started my fitness journey last year in August by actively trying to workout more and eating less junk. By January, I was working out practically every day and had started counting calories, but was having limited success with weight loss. After visiting a doctor and getting my health needs taken care of (blood pressure, diabetes issues), I was able to successfully start losing more weight. With the added benefit of meal prepping, I have lost 40 lbs.

I'm currently in cosmetology school and continuing to workout 5/7 days of the week. I would love to get it to 6 days, but I've been pretty exhausted from extended days on my feet right now. I look forward to being apart of this group, and continuing to lose the weight that's been holding me back for years. I started at 390 lbs and am currently right at 350. I want to keep this train going!

Hey all! My name is Emily and I am excited to start my weight loss journey with all of you. I'm 22 years old and live in Poughkeepsie, NY. I just graduated with a degree in Public Health and I want to study and conduct research in childhood obesity.

Right now I am doing what most recent grads do, trying to find a job. But since I have nothing else to do I figured that now is the perfect time to get a jump start on the healthier me.

My goal right now is to walk everyday (since I cannot afford a gym membership).

Can't wait to talk to everyone here and work on my goal alongside everyone!

Hey I'm Erika!

I'm so stoked to join the team! I'm 24 years old. I live in Vancouver, Canada and no, it's not cold here (contrary to popular belief); I live right on the Pacific Ocean and we are only 2 hours North of Seattle :)

I have a bachelor's degree in kinesiology -- I am living proof that even fitness professionals can struggle and let themselves go.

I am also a former college basketball player. I suffered a career ending injury (multiple broken vertebrae) that really set me back on my fitness; I was bed-ridden for months. After my recovery I got super caught up in my studies (hello ramen noodles!), marriage, and living abroad in England for 2 years...before I knew it I had gained about 80 lbs.

I am SO excited to be back! I didn't realize how much I missed my old, healthy lifestyle until I returned to it. I hope to be able to use my education (I am a certified personal trainer, athletic medical trainer, etc.) to help others out on their journey too! It will be awesome to meet like-minded people who are fighting the good fight alongside me!

Hi everyone! I'm Katie, 28 years old. I've struggled with my weight since before I can remember, with countless yo-yo diets that each time brought the weight back with extras. But this time's going to be different! Since re-dedicating myself to weight loss a month ago, I've become way more active, with the help of my trusty Fitbit, and got into gardening and walking and all sorts of fun stuff. :)

My starting weight on May 1st was 375. I'm down to 343 as of today (5/28). Hoping to be down to 300 by the end of July, although I know that's a big ask. Eventually I want to get down to about 160, which would be great for my frame, although anything under 200 would be a huge win for me. (I've never been below 270 since going to college.)

I've been married for a little over 8 years, no children yet but have a spoiled chihuahua named Peanut. Not really a social person, but I am hoping to make some friends and change that along with my weight. I have depression and anxiety issues that makes it difficult sometimes to get moving and meet people too.

I'm not technically new to SP (been a member off and on for about 6 years) but I never have been successful in the past. Lack of willpower, lack of desire, overall just a bad attitude about the whole process.

I'm currently at my highest weight ever (260 lbs, 5'1") and not real happy about it. I went to the doctor for the first time in almost 11 years this past week and found out yesterday that I am pre-diabetic. I absolutely have to make changes this time and be successful.

My short-term goal is to lose at least 30 lbs and get out of pre-diabetic range. My long-term goal is to lose 100-140 lbs total. I put a range in there because I am interested in not only losing weight but building muscle, and I know muscle might make me weigh more in the end but still be fit.

Hi, I'm Andy. I'm a 21 y/o trans male with a lot of disabilities that keep me very desk-bound. My over all health is actually pretty good, so really the only reason I want to lose weight is to make myself happier. I know losing weight won't cure my fibro or my depression or my ptsd... or anything really. But maybe it'll all be easier to deal with if I don't hate what's in the mirror.

Hi, My name is Dee Ann. I have 134 pounds to lose to make my goal weight. In high school, I had back surgery and gained 50 pounds. I had worked most of it off until college became super stressful and I gained it all back as well as a few extra. Then, I got married and got really comfortable and super busy and forgot to work out putting on even more weight. I have never been "fit", but I am making my most conscious effort now to lose the weight and truly change my lifestyle. I'm hoping to even get my husband on board with this!!

Hello everyone! My name is Ashley. I'm 26 and live near Portland, Oregon. I am a new sparkmember and have about 205 lbs to lose. I have some medical problems that make it a little harder for me including Celiac Disease so I have to eat gluten free. I started dieting, tracking, and trying to get in more exercise last week. My scale is acting weird though so I'm not sure what I've lost so far. I've got to get a new one in the next few days!

I joined SP in hopes of getting at least one weight loss buddy!

Heya people!

My name's Becca.
I'm 24.
I'm an English teacher currently working in the Middle East.
I gained a lot of weight between the ages of 17-23 when I was caring for my mom, who had a terminal illness, and as a result there was a lot of stress and I didn't have time to care properly for myself.

My heaviest was 268, and I'm down to 253 at present - after a year of working out regularly and cutting most processed foods out of my diet. I'd like to lose 103 pounds ideally, but at 90 pounds I'll be back in my healthy weight range.

Living overseas, I don't have an extensive support community... So I'd love to connect with some people here!

Like others here, I'm not entirely new, just back after a long break (3+years!).
I'm 25, in school in Vermont.
I love the outdoors and all animals.
I like baking and video games.
I've very into canoeing and camping but I would love to become a hiker and possibly a runner. My goal is to hike the Appalachian Trail.
I love meeting new people and talking.
I've been struggling with weight for so long and I'm almost at 300 pounds... never thought it'd get this far. But it has so I'll do something about it.
I don't have a goal weight, I just want to be able to steal my sisters clothes XD (Shes a size 10 and I'm 5ft2 so I think thats realistic? But as long as I'm healthy and active thats the REAL goal).

Hello team!

My name in Janel and I am 25 in less than a week. I have been struggling with weight longer then I ever want to admit but am ready to take some serious action. I have about 120-135 lbs to lose or at least to get down to a size 10-12. I found a couple fashions I want to join but finding anything in plus size is near impossible with out paying extra for customized pieces. I want to look my best when I make my debut in the community.

Hi Nicole!

Those are some serious goals that you have, and I hope that you are able to achieve them! I'm in a similar boat with motivation. I'm good at sticking to my guns until I lose a little bit of weight, think that that is the best that I can do, and give up. I'm trying to motivate myself mentally this time around to help overcome that feeling. I want to believe that I can do anything that I commit myself too. I wish you the best of luck!

Hello all,
My name is Caitlin and I love cats. I recently joined Spark People because over the past 6 months I've gained an astonishing 80 pounds. I've always been overweight. When I was 15 I joined Spark Teens over the summer and lost about 35 pounds between that and jogging on the treadmill. I adopted a vegan diet when I was seventeen and continued to slowly lose weight for a few years after that. I bottomed out at 200 pounds and wearing a size 16 in March of 2015 (though I was still living an unhealthy lifestyle, working 15 hours a day and eating only once or twice a day). I made a few changes for my mental health and some of the side effects (changing to a sedentary job and eating much, much more) have had an impact on my physical health. I'm 5'6 or 7, so ideally 175 would be great for me. However, since I have always struggled with my weight, I would still be beyond happy if I could get down to 185.
Best of luck to everyone. emoticon

Hi everyone. I joined SparkPeople in 2008, left, came back in 2012 to prepare for my wedding, left again, and now I am back. I am currently 319lbs which is my heaviest ever. I was losing weight in 2012/2013, but after finding out I had cancer and having to quit my jobs I just kind of gave up on taking care of myself. I am in remission now, and after working in a city office for a year I quit to start a doctoral program full-time.

My husband and I found out I have a limited shot at getting pregnant - I was told at 16 I was infertile, but found out last month it's not true. I have about a year before I will be in early menopause, at 29. Before we can begin fertility treatments I have to meet a min-max BMI range that has me dropping down to at most 215lbs, but preferably 175-200lbs. It's going to be quite an adventure and a lot of really hard work.

Hello everyone!
My name is Nicole and I am 26 years old. I'm not actually new to this group but I have been gone for a couple years, so I guess you could say I am new--again. I have this horrible habit of being highly motivated for a few weeks and then just losing it all and running away for awhile until everything gets out of control again.

My life has changed drastically in the past year. My fianc of 5 years moved in with me a year ago this month. I started a part time job, lost my full time job and graduated college yet still have had no hits on a job in that career since I'm from such a small town. I guess I have allowed this to all be a free pass and let my healthy habits fly out the window. I am now the heaviest I have ever been at 410 pounds. I want to be down to my lowest weight in YEARS (310) in a year from February. I am sick of having no energy and wanting to sleep all the time. On top of it all we want to start a family soon. I need to make some serious changes in order for that to happen.

I look forward to restarting this journey and I wish everyone all the best in everything they do!

Hey All! My name is Des. I am 24. I'm a recent college grad, newly wed, and new mommy. I plan to open a daycare one day, but now I'm a stay at home Mama. I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember but haven't been able to successfully keep the weight off. The lowest weight I've reached in the past 10 years was 185. My current weight, post baby is 257. I want to lose 110ish pounds! I know I have a long journey ahead of me but I can't give up this time. I haven't been able to ski in years and I want to share that special activity with my baby when she's bigger. Plus I love the outdoors but have been hiding inside because of my weight. Looking forward to this journey.

Hey all my name is Chelsie. I am a 28 year old mom, student, and wife. I have 200 pounds to lose. I am looking forward to having people who are supportive as well as being a support for many others. At my stage in my life I hit rock bottom when I couldn't even walk down the street. I decided I needed a change not only to be healthy but so I could be the best to my family. I have tried several times to lose weight and never been able to stick it out with one. I want to say thanks for the invite and look forward to losing with all of you. emoticon

My name is Karleigh and I'm super excited to join this team. I'm currently in school to become a personal trainer and I can't let my weight hold me back! I have 107 pounds to lose, and I don't intend on finding them again. Before meeting my husband I had lost 60 pounds. Fell in love, got married, I gained 80, he gained over 125. But not anymore!
I've done the Spark thing before, but I really want to commit this time. I don't eat dairy, gluten, or refined sugar. I do things a little differently than they expect me to on here, but I figured that wasn't a good enough excuse to stay away from all the wonderful support I'm hoping to find here.
I can't wait to get to know all of you.
Let's kick butt this year!

I'm Sarah, I'm 27 and a single mom. I nearly cried when I stepped on the scale back on thanksgiving, but since then ive dropped sugar and grains, ive dropped almost 15 pounds.... even if I just lost this 50 pounds or so I gained over the last 5 years id be blown away. The app gave me a predicted goal of 50 pounds by June. I'm very interested to see what I can do.

Hey! I'm starting out small and working my way up to the bigger things. I'm 27 and go to university for a Bachelors in psych/anthro and am almost done with that and ready to move onto my Masters. I also work. I am exactly 109 pounds overweight. I joined sparkpeople because I broke a computer chair. Yup.. I literally did break off an arm and messed up the back of it. Total cliche. Anyways, I'm here to finally do it! I hope I can talk to everyone and we can work together.

Hi all :) looking for some like minded friends. Trying to get back on track for the long haul. I lost about 50lbs 3 years ago but I have gained it back sadly. Looking to make 2016 my year! Already been working on healthy eating lifestyle changes but really need to get some movement back in. I used to love workout at the gym but due to a few things I am unable to get to the gym so its home workouts for me and I am really struggling with that part of things.

Married - Hoping to be a mother
Battling - PCOS/Anxiety/Depression/Insulin resistance

I used to look at everything as being impossible so this time I turned that into I'M-POSSIBLE :)

Hi! I'm Louise. Last year I lost about 40 lbs and I was feeling amazing. Then I got into a new, very comfortable relationship and we fell into the habit of ordering takeout and watching TV with ice-cream, etc. and I've gained it all back. Today is my 25th birthday and I realized I don't want to spend another day letting myself get more and more unhealthy. I've been overweight my whole life and I'm ready to do something about it. Can't wait to get to know you all! :)
