WELL......hello, QUADCITYGEEK! How nice to have you join our conversations, which have been rather limited this summer as we all have been busy. I am an old (65) retiree living on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities and I joined the Y recently. Planet Fitness sounds great, and many of my friends have lost a lot of weight after joining, but my daughter worked as a personal trainer at the y and encouraged (well hounded) me to join. Hopefully, between your memberships at Planet Fitness and Sparkpeople you will become a healthier person.

Well I do like to talk alot, er I mean converse LOL. I got really motivated when I first created this account and joined the team. Since then I admit I have slacked off a bit as far as checking in here. I need to be on here more often. Motivation is definitely a key ingredient. I got my membership to planet fitness and I have been doing that as well as walking around Vanderveer park. I am nowhere near up to jogging around the park yet, but it is baby steps right? At least I am walking around and being active. I finally got a routine down and just need to stay on top of it.

Welcome to the Sparked in the QC's team! I am the leader of this team and my co leader is MKELLY72. We have been chatting in the forum checking in. Every month one of us starts a new topic. I think you are the first guy to write in this team since I took over the team. I hope you are doing well. The topic for this month is Sailing Through September. Hope to see your comments in there. You seem to be very motivated and the team could really use some motivation.

Well hello fellow Quad-Citians. I am a 38yr old male. I recently lost 230 lbs...I got divorced. :) Ok well that wasn't nice I suppose, but yeah I am recently divorced and am trying to get my life back on track.
I first started a page when I was 35, but since that time I had a heart attack at age 36, and was doing 22 credit hours a semester in college to earn 3 degrees in two years. Having the heart attack added an extra semester for me but I graduated in 2012 with 3 degrees in IT. At any rate I think the class load combined with having 3 children and marital issues is a big factor in my heart attack, aside from the obvious health issue.
I am good to go as far as my heart is concerned and I have a few things I still need to change. First I need to quit smoking. You would think having a heart attack at such a young age would have stopped me, but it didn't. I know I need to quit before it literally kills me. Also it isn't that I ate terribly before, but I am sure I could have made some better choices. Thirdly I need to quit being so sedentary. I recently started my own business. I had done computer work on my own for 17 years, and decided to finally go to college and get my degrees. After my divorce was final, I decided to work for myself and I started QuadCityGeek. Some of you may see me driving around with my logo and or web address on the back of my vehicle. If you do, honk or wave at me.
I just joined back up at Planet Fitness today in Davenport. I had gone before my divorce, but I moved away for a while during my divorce to just get away and clear my head and so I have been back in Davenport now about 4 months.
I am always looking for someone to go workout with, male or female doesn't matter. (which if you don't have a planet fitness membership and you want to work out with me, I can bring someone free everyday.) Or I think with this nice weather I want to walk/jog/run around VanderVeer in the evenings most likely, when it isn't too hot out.
At any rate I am hoping that with my motivational attitude I have at the moment that I continue to stay motivated. I know it's a marathon and will take time and effort and I really want to put forth that effort to look good, lose a few pounds and become more heart healthy.
