Welcome Kim,

Sounds like you have a good plan! Starting slow while focusing on one thing at a time seems like a wise way to make changes.

I homeschool 4 children with some similar ages; 16, 14, 12, and 8.

We just had our 5th baby; she is 5 weeks old tomorrow. I have 4 other children ages 4, 11, 13, and 16. I am eager to lose the weight I gained while pregnant. It was a really tough year of international travels, an international move, lots of living in hotels/temp homes (we are missionaries returned stateside), etc and while I always gain around 50-60 pounds during pregnancy, I also started a little heavier than I ever did before. I topped out the pregnancy around 190 lbs (a lot for a 5 foot tall lady). Our sweet little girl is 5 weeks old (tomorrow) and I am weighing in at 165. My goal weight is 125. That is a realistic number for me at my age, I feel. That is 20 pounds higher than my married weight, but well I've had 5 children. :) I'm not trying to regain youth, I'm just trying to get healthier and feel back to my old(er) self.

I did have a c-section and I am also breastfeeding and so I'll need to be careful and take it all slowly. A good start for me right now would be to stay away from chocolate, ice cream and other junk food that is so appealing around the holidays! Next would be to get regular walking in, later some toning exercises and then start counting calories. That's the plan anyway. :)
