I would be inclined to only belong to a couple active teams and focus on them. It may be you just read the posts, and not respond. For well over a year I just used the Nutrition Tracker and read the various articles that I was interested in (in the "LEARN" part of the drop-down menu above) and then progressed to reading some of the posts in my various teams, then about 18 months after joining I made my first post on a message board.

I only joined SP to use the Nutrition Tracker. That has been and still remains, the most important part of my membership. Anything else is a bonus, but don't feel guilty if that is all you can manage.

It is another chore added to the day but it shouldn't be overwhelming. Try just tracking what you eat and what exercise you do to begin with. That should only take a few minutes at the end of the day. Then, once you have an idea where you are, set a small goals, maybe take one of the challenges that will help you get to that goal. Once you reach that goal, set another. If things get to be too much, cut back some or even the whole way back to just tracking.

Encouragement is great and you should seek it out when you need it, but, realistically, it's up to you to say no to over-indulging in the wrong food and under-indulging in exercise. If you're not ready for that, you'll just be frustrated by the whole thing.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.--Socrates

I am back after, well, I don't know how many years. One of the reasons I left SP was that I was overwhelmed by trying to keep track of everything. Now, looking at all the categories, message boards, and things to keep track of, I have that feeling again. I need the interaction and encouragement, but I want to enjoy my life, not spend it in front of the computer tracking every moment of my day. And there is so much to go through, just to get started again. Any suggestions to simplify the process would be greatly appreciated.
