Hi - welcome aboard :-) There is no need to feel intimidated. You must remember that your coming here is a positive .... you have done this before it got too far out of hand and harder to deal with, AND most of us here are in, or have been in, the same boat!!!

Below is a link you may find helpful:

You CAN turn this around, and it won't be as hard as you think.

I had ALWAYS eaten a very healthy diet, and with very little processed food. I also ate between 1650 and 1850 calories, which is a health amount for my (then) height. I was still overweight, and over the years still gaining. My Registered Dietitian identified the problem and with that I started to lose. After I had lost about 50lb, and the only change to my diet was a slight reduction of (mainly fruit), and my Registered Dietitian putting me on Fish OIl Supplements because of a very low HDL, my lab results including HbA1c started to get back to normal.

I am sure that given a little time, yours will likely return to normal, too, but make sure that you weigh all of your food for increased accuracy and enter it all, (warts and all) into the Nutrition Tracker. That way you will be able to tweak based on fact, rather than just suspicion.

Good luck,
Kris

Welcome! Don't be intimidated. We're all in the same boat and no one is here to judge. A good place to start is to learn a bit about the site, what it offers (a lot) and how best to use it for your own personal needs. I found the Calendar Challenges to be a good starting point. They get you thinking about making small changes and setting goals. This site is a lot to take in at first but you can do this with a little time and patience.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.--Socrates

Hey, I'm Kayla & just got told by the doc that my LDL is getting a little high (3.7) & that I'm not pre-diabetic, but on my way... So now I need to find a way to get my LDL down. Part of that is I know I need to lose weight. I'm almost 31 years old (this month), 5'3 1/4", 202.7lbs. I know I need to be more active & need to cut down portion sizes. I'm sure there's also food I should cut back on eating (or possibly cut out altogether)
