Welcome! and good luck. I think often our cholesterol numbers are a combination of things including heredity, food choices, and exercise choices. It doesn't help that the "experts" keep changing up their advice. It would be so much easier to try a variety of things if we could get our numbers run whenever we wanted to, but, of course, we can't. So it's hard to know if this diet change or that supplement actually helped in any way. The good thing is that, whether or not your numbers go down, you will be healthier overall and that lessens your chance of developing heart problems and makes life more enjoyable.

Hello my cholesterol is high tried to get it down with diet and exercise went down to 220 back up to 258 so I am going to try meds again because don’t want heart problems any advice

I am not sure if my high cholesterol is genetic or hereditary. My parents both had high cholesterol, but I have aunts and uncles who changed their life styles and lowered it. I do not like taking meds (though I do), but am going to make an attempt to change the diet to see if that will get me off the meds. I recently changed to vegetarian (exceptions - fish and egg whites) and want to start tracking my foods. I did not eat all that bad before and am not overweight. I intend to read some of the forums here about this and I'm sure the advice will be good. Wish me luck on my journey!!!
