Hi BEBARB! Thanks for the links. I was just looking at Pritikin website today. The article had some really good ideas. I might try Cholestoff. My doctor recommended Mediterranean but I’m thinking Pritikin might be better. Hard to know what to do! I’ve been sticking to oats and beans with lots of veggies, some fruit and a little fat free Greek yogurt. Good to be here - appreciate all the welcomes!

I had blood work done a few weeks ago and am at my wits end - I, too, will not go on Statins - tried them and could not tolerate no matter what the dosage - my numbers are high more on genetics. My total is 288, HDL 60 - LDL 175, Trig 265, VLDL 53 I am doing my best to eat "clean". I will get blood work done again in June - a local hospital offers a FREE check up every few months- which is great. (height, weight, Blood Pressure & cholesterol), I need guidance, going to get Choletoff and see if that helps.

Hi, I ‘m Marla and I joined SP last week. I have had borderline cholesterol numbers for years and last year (results late March) showed my LDL jumped from 109 to 147. My HDL is good at 77, but my total is 249! My triglycerides jumped from 49 to 126! So....PCP is recommending Mediterranean Diet. I’m trying to eat whole foods plant based and recording everything I eat. I am looking forward to reading through the posts - I have a lot to learn. Re-check is in September; my goal is to stay off statins. And, to have a good attitude willing to learn and try new things! Look forward to getting to know you!
