Welcome - the good news is that you are here and fully able to do something about :-)

Take your time to read the various articles on Nutrition and Fitness (in the "Learn" part of the toolbar above) and make very good use of the Nutrition Tracker.

I weigh all of my food for increased accuracy and enter it all in there. That has proven to be the most helpful tool on SP, for loads of people. It gives you the ability to tweak your nutrition intake as and when necessary.

Start this journey off with baby steps. Change only one or two things to start with and allow your mind/body to get used to those changes before adding something else to the mix. It might be as simple as reducing soda/juice and increasing water; or it might be adding an extra piece of fruit/vege to your day and decreasing cakes/sweets/ice-cream etc.

At the same time, mobilize more in the day than you do normally. f you already get some form of exercise, then it may be that you just need to build on that with intensity and duration - again, gradually.

Don't be tempted to drop your calories all at once. You could come a right cropper doing that and easily fall off the wagon. Instead, just lower them in small increments every 2-3 days until you reach the range that you have been given. Don't be tempted to UNDER-eat because that could easily backfire on you, too.

You will probably find that once your weight has dropped a bit, your cholesterol will too. It took a 50lb drop in weight for my cholesterol to become normal.
